Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX i-800V/8 is the largest vertical multi-tasking machine in the i-V family, taking workpieces up to Φ1500 mm (Φ59 in) in diameter and 1500 mm high at up to 3000 kg (6614 lbs). The vertical layout — rotary table below, milling head above — is what makes those numbers usable. A 3000 kg ring or casing sits on the table under its own weight, so workholding resists cutting forces rather than fighting gravity as it would in a horizontal spindle.

The table is the turning spindle. It runs to 500 rpm with 3120 N·m of continuous torque from a 45 kW (60 HP) continuous motor, positions as a C-axis to 0.0001° and rapids at 50 rpm. That combination is what lets the machine face, bore and turn large diameters properly rather than treating rotation as indexing between milling operations.

The milling head reaches 10000 rpm through BT50 tooling at 37 kW (50 HP) peak and 30 kW (40 HP) continuous, with 353 N·m peak and 248 N·m continuous torque. The B-axis covers 150° and rapids at 30 rpm, with the same 0.0001° minimum increment, giving access to the bore, the outside diameter, the top face and angled features in one clamping.

Travels are 1700 mm (67 in) in X, 1500 mm (59 in) in Y and 1150 mm (45 in) in Z, all rapiding at 52000 mm/min (2047 IPM). Y matching the full Φ1500 mm workpiece diameter is the significant figure: the head can traverse the entire part width off centerline, so eccentric bosses, ports and bolt patterns anywhere on a large flange are reachable without repositioning the workpiece.

The 43-pocket magazine takes tools to Φ125 mm, Φ250 mm with an adjacent pocket empty, 650 mm long and 30 kg.

At 39650 kg (87412 lbs) on a 6010 × 8729 mm footprint and 3983 mm (157 in) tall, the i-800V/8 is a foundation-level install. It targets energy, aerospace and heavy industry — turbine casings, large bearing housings, valve bodies and similar parts where consolidating setups saves both crane time and cumulative alignment error.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Takes workpieces to Φ1500 mm × 1500 mm at up to 3000 kg (6614 lbs), with the part sitting on the table under its own weight so workholding resists cutting forces instead of gravity
  • The table is the turning spindle — 500 rpm, 3120 N·m continuous torque from a 45 kW (60 HP) continuous motor, C-axis to 0.0001° and 50 rpm rapid
  • 1500 mm (59 in) of Y travel matches the full maximum workpiece diameter, so eccentric bosses, ports and bolt patterns anywhere on a large flange are reachable without repositioning the part
  • BT50 milling head to 10000 rpm at 37 kW (50 HP) peak and 30 kW (40 HP) continuous, with 353 N·m peak and 248 N·m continuous torque
  • 150° of B-axis travel at a 0.0001° minimum increment reaches the bore, the outside diameter, the top face and angled features in one clamping
  • Rapids of 52000 mm/min (2047 IPM) on all three linear axes on a machine of nearly 40 tonnes

Limitations

  • 39650 kg (87412 lbs) on a 6010 mm × 8729 mm footprint is a foundation-level installation with a very large floor claim
  • 3983 mm (157 in) of machine height needs verifying against building and crane clearance before order
  • Milling spindle tops out at 10000 rpm, so this is a heavy-cut platform rather than a high-rpm finishing machine
  • 1150 mm (45 in) of Z travel is shorter than the 1500 mm maximum workpiece height, which constrains reach into deep parts
  • Maximum tool diameter is Φ125 mm in normal use — Φ250 mm requires leaving an adjacent pocket empty

Best For

Turbine casings, large bearing housings and valve bodies finished in one clamping Energy, aerospace and heavy industry work where consolidating setups saves crane time and cumulative alignment error Large-diameter parts up to Φ1500 mm (Φ59 in) and 3000 kg that are impractical to hold in a horizontal spindle Flanged components with eccentric features anywhere across the full part width Shops with the foundation, floor area and ceiling height to support a machine of this class

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the maximum workpiece the i-800V/8 will take?

Up to Φ1500 mm (Φ59 in) in diameter and 1500 mm high, at a table load capacity of 3000 kg (6614 lbs). Travels are 1700 mm (67 in) in X, 1500 mm (59 in) in Y and 1150 mm (45 in) in Z. Note that Z travel is shorter than the maximum workpiece height, which is worth checking against deep parts.

02 Does the i-800V/8 really turn, or does the table just index?

It turns. The table runs to 500 rpm with 3120 N·m of continuous torque from a 45 kW (60 HP) continuous motor, which supports proper facing, boring and turning at large diameters. As a C-axis it positions to 0.0001° over a full 360° and rapids at 50 rpm.

03 Why does the Y travel figure matter on this machine?

Y travel of 1500 mm (59 in) matches the full Φ1500 mm maximum workpiece diameter. That means the milling head can traverse the entire part width off centerline, so eccentric bosses, ports and bolt patterns anywhere on a large flange are reachable without repositioning the workpiece — which on a 3000 kg part means avoiding a crane lift and a re-indication.

04 What foundation and clearance does it require?

The machine weighs 39650 kg (87412 lbs), occupies 6010 mm × 8729 mm of floor and stands 3983 mm (157 in) tall. That is a foundation-level install: expect a prepared pad, crane access for both installation and part loading, and an early check on building height.
