Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX i-800V/8 is the largest vertical multi-tasking machine in the i-V series, built for workpieces up to 1,500 mm (59.06 in) in diameter and 1,500 mm (59.06 in) in height. Where the i-630V/6 tops out at 41 inches, the i-800V/8 pushes the envelope to nearly 60 inches diameter, handling the largest disc-shaped, flanged, and ring-type components that vertical multi-tasking can process.

The vertical rotary table spins at up to 500 RPM through a CAT 50 interface, with the milling spindle operating from above. The 8-axis configuration provides simultaneous 5-axis milling and turning with additional axes for expanded automation and sub-system coordination. Gravity-loaded fixturing simplifies workholding on heavy workpieces that would be impractical to chuck horizontally.

The i-800V/8 is available with a 2-pallet changer configuration for production environments where reducing load/unload impact on spindle utilization is critical. The S variant (i-800V/8S) operates as a single-pallet machine but extends capacity to 1,700 mm (66.93 in) diameter and 1,665 mm (65.55 in) height for the absolute largest workpieces.

MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC with Ai Thermal Shield maintains positioning accuracy during long machining cycles. Machine weight exceeds 35,000 kg (77,162 lb). New machines price $700,000-$1,100,000 depending on configuration. Competes with the largest Okuma VTM machines, DMG Mori NVX series, and large vertical boring mill replacements.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,500 mm (59 in) maximum workpiece diameter is the largest in the i-V series, handling parts the i-630V cannot fit
  • 8-axis configuration provides maximum simultaneous machining flexibility for complex large components
  • CAT 50 milling spindle delivers machining center rigidity for heavy milling on large steel, titanium, and Inconel parts
  • S variant extends to 1,700 mm (67 in) diameter for the absolute largest vertical multi-tasking workpieces
  • 2-pallet changer reduces load/unload downtime impact on spindle utilization in production environments
  • Vertical orientation eliminates cantilever stress and simplifies fixturing on heavy workpieces

Limitations

  • $700K-$1.1M investment requires sustained volume of large-format high-value work to justify
  • 500 RPM table speed is lower than the i-630V/6 at 550 RPM due to larger table inertia
  • 35,000+ kg requires heavily engineered foundations and overhead crane for workpiece handling
  • Lead times of 12-18 months typical for machines at this specification level

Frequently Asked Questions

01 i-800V/8 cost?

Base 2-pallet configuration starts around $700,000. Fully loaded with expanded tool magazine and options runs $900K-$1.1M. S variant (single pallet, larger capacity) is priced similarly.

02 i-800V/8 vs i-630V/6?

The i-800V/8 is significantly larger: 59 vs 41 inch max diameter, 8 vs 6 axes, 500 vs 550 RPM table speed. Both use CAT 50 tooling. Choose i-800V/8 when parts exceed 41 inches diameter or need the 8-axis configuration.

03 What is the S variant?

The i-800V/8S is a single-pallet configuration with extended capacity: 1,700 mm (67 in) diameter and 1,665 mm (65.5 in) height vs the standard 1,500 mm x 1,500 mm. Choose S when parts exceed standard capacity and pallet changing is not needed.

04 Foundation requirements?

Professionally engineered reinforced concrete for 35,000+ kg machine weight plus workpiece loads. Overhead crane mandatory. Plan 4-8 months for foundation work before delivery. Mazak provides detailed foundation drawings with quotation.
