Takamaz XW-60

The Takamaz XW-60 is a compact twin-spindle chucker: two spindles, each with its own 8-station turret, 7.5 / 5.5 kW per spindle and a 6 in collet as standard (5 in optional). Axis strokes are short, 125 mm (4.9 in) in X and 140 mm (5.5 in) in Z, which tells you the machine is meant for small chucked blanks rather than shafts.

Two spindles side by side let a cell run OP10 on one side and OP20 on the other, or the same operation on both, so one machine does the work of two single-spindle lathes on a floor area listed as 1,595 (1,950 ※) × 2,005 mm (W × L). The table does not explain the ※ figure; check which width applies to the configuration being quoted before planning the layout.

Standard spindle speed is 4,500 rpm, with 6,000 optional. The spindle bearing I.D. is Ø75 mm, or Ø65 mm on the optional build, so the faster spindle and the smaller bearing should be checked together when ordering. Rapids are X 21 m/min and Z 18 m/min. With 140 mm (5.5 in) of Z, those rates keep air moves short on small parts.

The workpiece rows give φ60 in diameter and a length of 60, with a maximum load capacity of 1.0, listed next to an entry for ΣiGTH60 (High speed type). The control is listed as TAKAMAZ & FANUC 0i-TF.

The XW-60M shares this frame, the spindles and the travels but carries 10-station turrets and rotating tools at 4,000 rpm. The XW-60 has no live tool rows in its table, so it is the turning-only choice; if parts need cross holes or flats, compare it with the XW-60M first.
