How much does the Tajmac-ZPS MANURHIN K'MX 816 CLEVER cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Tajmac-ZPS MANURHIN K'MX 816 CLEVER that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Eight linear axes for a 16 mm bar: the MANURHIN K'MX 816 CLEVER packs the most kinematics per millimetre of bar in the range. X1, X2, Y1, Y2, Y3, Z1, Z2 and Z3 plus C1 and C2 let four tools cut at one time, on two 12,000 rpm electro spindles of equal power, 3.7 / 5.5 kW each.
The layout is two independent cross slides beside the guide bush and one axial rack that moves in both Y3 and Z3. Because the axial rack has its own Z stroke of 225 mm, it can feed drills into the main spindle side or serve the counter spindle without waiting for the headstock. The vertical strokes are long for a small machine, 319 mm on Y1 and Y2 and 305 mm on Y3, which is how (2 x 10) + (2 x 6) tool positions fit.
Powered tooling is where this model differs most from the 20 mm machines. The two racks next to the guide bush carry gearboxes with 4+4 powered positions for ER16 collets at up to 8 500 rpm. The maker's example is milling parallel surfaces simultaneously or radially drilling holes against each other. The axial slide can optionally take 3 powered tools for the main spindle and 3 for the counter spindle, at up to 12 000 rpm, for work such as eccentric drilling. C-axis on both spindles is optional here, and a B-axis is listed as optional.
Standard bar capacity is Ø 16 mm with a Ø 21 mm bore; Ø 20 mm bar with a Ø 23 mm bore is optional on request. One clamping turns 220 mm. The counter spindle stroke is 345 mm and parts up to 160 mm eject from the front. FANUC 31i – Model B controls it. The machine is 2,000 x 1,280 x 1,740 mm and 3,500 kg, and draws 31 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Four tools in the cut at one time on eight linear axes
- Main and counter spindle are equal: 12,000 rpm and 3.7 / 5.5 kW each
- 4+4 powered positions at the guide bush for ER16 collets, up to 8 500 rpm
- Axial rack with its own Z3 stroke of 225 mm (8.9 in) and Y3 stroke of 305 mm (12.0 in)
- (2 x 10) + (2 x 6) tool positions for turning
- 30 m/min rapid feed on every axis listed
Limitations
- Standard bar capacity is Ø 16 mm; Ø 20 mm needs the optional Ø 23 mm bore
- C-axis on the spindles and the powered tools on the axial slide are optional
- X2 stroke is only 30 mm (1.2 in), against 90 mm on X1
- At 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) it is far heavier than the 2,300 kg MANURHIN K'MX 620 for a similar bar size

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Four. The brochure states 4 tools in cut at one time, made possible by two independent cross slides beside the guide bush, an axial tool rack on Y3 and Z3, and the counter spindle on Z2. The machine has eight linear CNC axes and two rotary axes.
02
The two tool racks next to the guide bush are equipped with gearboxes with 4+4 powered positions for ER16 collets, with a maximum speed of 8 500 rpm on all positions. The axial cross slide can optionally carry 3 powered tools for the main spindle and 3 for the counter spindle, also in ER16 collets, at up to 12 000 rpm.
03
As an option on request. Standard capacity is Ø 16 mm (0.6 in) with a Ø 21 mm spindle bore on both spindles. The optional version takes Ø 20 mm (0.8 in) bar with a Ø 23 mm bore. Collets are type 145E (F25) and guide bushes type B260.
04
The MANURHIN K'MX 620 is a six-axis machine for Ø 20 mm bar with 1 kW driven tools and a FANUC 0i-TF Plus. The 816 CLEVER has eight linear axes, four tools in the cut, a 3.7 / 5.5 kW counter spindle and a FANUC 31i – Model B, in a 3,500 kg machine.
05
The headstock stroke allows turning parts up to 220 mm (8.7 in) long on one clamping. Parts up to 160 mm are ejected from the front; longer parts leave only through the counter spindle, which is optional. The machine is typically delivered with an automatic bar feeder with encoder and a magazine for 3 m bars.
