Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Nexturn SA32PII that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Nexturn SA32PII is a seven-axis Swiss-type automatic lathe for 32 mm (1.3 in) bar. It turns 250 mm (9.8 in) per chucking, has a 5.5 / 7.5 kW (7.4 / 10.1 hp) main spindle and a 2.2 / 3.7 kW (3.0 / 5.0 hp) sub spindle, both at 8,000 rpm, and lists 20 tools.
Nexturn sells two seven-axis machines at this bar size, and the choice between them comes down to how much work the secondary stations have to do. The SA32B has the same main spindle motor. The SA32B's sub spindle is 1.5 / 2.2 kW (2.0 / 3.0 hp), with a 1.0 kW (1.3 hp) cross unit and a 0.75 kW (1.0 hp) back-end motor. On the SA32PII the cross drill and mill unit and the back-end face tools each get 2.2 kW (3.0 hp). The PII also has the longer stroke, 250 mm where the SA32B turns 210 mm (8.3 in), and it is the heavier machine at 3,500 kg (7,716 lb).
Because every driven station has the same motor, drilling limits are uniform: 12 mm (0.5 in) and M10 on the main spindle, across the bar and into the back face. A cross disc mill may be 40 mm (1.6 in) in diameter. Cross spindles run to 6,000 rpm and the back-end station to 5,000 rpm.
The tool count needs a careful reading. Five OD tools, four cross live tools, five Y-axis ID tools, two fixed front-end face tools and four back-end tools make 20. Of those, the Y-axis tool unit is on the option list, and the standard PII back unit holds four fixed tools, with the Live 2, Fixed 2 version as an option. The sub spindle is a built-in motor with inverter oil cooling.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2.2 kW (3.0 hp) motors on both the cross unit and the back-end face tools
- Uniform 12 mm (0.5 in) / M10 drilling and tapping capacity on main spindle, cross and back-end stations
- Sub spindle rated 2.2 / 3.7 kW (3.0 / 5.0 hp), above the 1.5 / 2.2 kW (2.0 / 3.0 hp) of the SA32B
- 250 mm (9.8 in) turning length through a synchronous rotary guide bush
- One piece casting bed with a slant bed layout for chip and coolant discharge
Limitations
- 20 tools; the SA32PYII lists 25 and the SA32XII lists 29
- Front-end face tools for the sub spindle are fixed only unless the revolving unit option is added
- No Y2 axis and no non guide bush mode on the PII type
- Main spindle motor is no larger than on the 26 mm SA26PII

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both are seven-axis machines for 32 mm bar with 20 tools and a 5.5 / 7.5 kW (7.4 / 10.1 hp) main spindle. The SA32PII has the stronger secondary drives, 2.2 kW (3.0 hp) on cross and back-end tools, and 250 mm (9.8 in) of turning length. The SA32B has 210 mm (8.3 in) and smaller secondary motors, and is the lighter of the two at 3,100 kg (6,834 lb).
02
The sub spindle chucks 32 mm (1.3 in) and has a 2.2 / 3.7 kW (3.0 / 5.0 hp) built-in motor. Back-end face tools are listed as four, Live 2 and Fixed 2, with drilling to 12 mm (0.5 in) and tapping to M10 on a 2.2 kW (3.0 hp) drive. An optional back-end face cross unit adds cross work there.
03
Y1 is in the axis designation (X1, Z1, Y1, X2, Z2, C1, C2) and the table counts five Y-axis ID tools. The Y-axis tool unit itself is listed under machine options, so check that it is on the quotation. A second Y axis is only on the PYII type.
04
3,500 kg (7,716 lb) net, in the same 2,100 × 1,165 × 1,660 mm (82.7 × 45.9 × 65.4 in) envelope as the rest of the P and PY machines. The coolant tank holds 280 L and the spindle centre height is 1,000 mm (39.4 in).
