How much does the Tajmac-ZPS MANURHIN K'MX 520 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Tajmac-ZPS MANURHIN K'MX 520 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The MANURHIN K'MX 520 is the simpler of the two 20 mm Swiss-type lathes Tajmac-ZPS builds: five linear CNC axes (X1, Y1, Z1, X2, Z2), two C-axes, Ø 20 mm (0.8 in) bar and a 210 mm (8.3 in) headstock stroke. Sub-spindle, driven tools and bar feeder are all in the standard package, and the control is a FANUC 0i-TF Plus.
What separates it from the gang-only machines is the second tool slide. A main slide carries (2 x 5) + (2 x 4) tools on X1 and Y1. A cross slide with 240 mm of X2 travel carries 4+1 more and serves the sub-spindle, so the two spindles can cut at the same time. The cross slide has no vertical axis on this model. That is the one thing the MANURHIN K'MX 620 adds: a Y2 travel of 66 mm.
Both motor spindles run to 12,000 rpm. The main is rated 3.7 / 5.5 kW (100% / 25%) and the sub-spindle 2.2 / 3.7 kW (100% / 30 min), which is light-duty power suited to free-cutting bar and small diameters. Driven tools turn at up to 8,000 rpm on 1 kW. Torque depends on the position: 4.8 Nm on OT4, and 5.5 Nm or 5.8 Nm on the optional OT1, OT5 and OT2 units. The brochure also shows optional BMT 22 and BMT 34 driven-tool interfaces.
The machine can run with a driven guide bush or without a guide bush, and turns 200 mm per stroke. Front ejection from the sub-spindle handles 140 mm, a figure the maker marks as subject to change. At 1,980 x 1,230 x 1,813 mm and 2,300 kg it needs little floor, plus 6 bar air and a 26 kVA supply.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Second tool slide with 240 mm (9.4 in) of X2 travel lets both spindles machine simultaneously
- Sub-spindle, driven tools and bar feeder are in the standard package
- 12,000 rpm on the main and the sub-spindle; driven tools to 8,000 rpm
- Can be run with a driven guide bush or in a no-guide-bush version
- Compact: 1,980 x 1,230 x 1,813 mm (78.0 x 48.4 x 71.4 in) and 2,300 kg (5,071 lb)
- Uniform 25 m/min rapid traverse on all axes
Limitations
- No Y2 axis on the cross slide; the MANURHIN K'MX 620 has 66 mm of Y2 travel
- Driven tool power is 1 kW with at most 5.8 Nm of torque, so milling is limited to light cuts
- Sub-spindle motor is 2.2 / 3.7 kW, smaller than the 3.7 / 5.5 kW main spindle
- Sub-spindle stroke and front-ejection length are marked as subject to change in the brochure

Frequently Asked Questions
01
One axis. The MANURHIN K'MX 620 has a vertical Y2 travel of 66 mm on the cross slide and lists 8+3 tools there, where the K'MX 520 lists 4+1 and has no Y2. The 620 also lists a torque figure for an OT3 driven position. Bar size, spindle ratings, strokes, footprint and the 2,300 kg weight are identical.
02
Five linear CNC axes, X1, Y1, Z1, X2 and Z2, plus two rotary axes, C1 and C2. X1 and Y1 move the main tool slide with travels of 60 mm and 167 mm. X2 moves the cross slide through 240 mm. Z1 is the 210 mm headstock stroke and Z2 the sub-spindle stroke.
03
Driven tool power is 1 kW and the maximum speed 8,000 rpm. Maximum torque is 4.8 Nm on position OT4. The OT1 and OT5 units give 5.5 Nm and OT2 gives 5.8 Nm, and the brochure marks those as optional equipment. The maker also states up to 8 driven or up to 8 fixed positions.
04
The main spindle takes F28 collets (DIN 6343 Type 148E) or F25 (Type 145E), and the sub-spindle takes F25. Guide bushes are type i357. The main spindle bore is 24.5 mm and the sub-spindle bore Ø 21 mm, with evacuation through the sub-spindle optional for workpieces up to Ø 17 mm.
05
3 x 400 V – 50 Hz with a power consumption of 26 kVA, and compressed air at 6 bar. The coolant tank holds 150 l; the pump delivers 45 l/min at 3 bar.
