SYIL G3 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the SYIL G3 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from SYIL or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Bar of 32 mm (1.3 in) on the G3 L326 and 38 mm (1.5 in) on the G3 L385 and G3 L386: that is the capacity of the SYIL G3, the larger of SYIL's two sliding-head lathes. One page and one specification cover all three variants, and where they differ SYIL prints the figures side by side.

A 6.3 kW (8.4 hp) main spindle and a 4.2 kW (5.6 hp) back spindle give the machine real turning power for a Swiss-type lathe. Main spindle speed is listed as 8,000 rpm (rotary guide sleeve 6,000) / 6,000 rpm (rotary cylinder), and the back spindle runs to 8,000 rpm. Put plainly, the 32 mm variant is the fast one and the 38 mm variants give up speed for bar size.

Machining length with the rotary guide sleeve is 310 mm (12.2 in) per chucking. SYIL lists no fixed guide sleeve figure for the G3. Without a guide bushing the length is 2.5D, capped at 80 mm on the smaller bar size and 90 mm on the larger.

Tooling is a step up in size from the smaller model. End-face stations are ER20, four of them, and the radial live tools are listed as 1(ER20)+3(ER16) with a 1.1 kW (1.5 hp) motor and 6,000 rpm. That lifts radial drilling to 10 mm (0.4 in) and tapping to M8, while the main spindle drills 13 mm (0.5 in) and taps M12. A two-position ER16 deep hole holder and four ER16 back machining tools are part of the listed tool system. Back powered tools are printed as 4(ER16) / Optional, so they depend on the variant.

All three variants weigh 3,750 kg (8,267 lb). Length is 2,960 mm or 3,100 mm depending on the variant, on a common 1,660 mm depth and 1,920 mm height. The control is the Siemens SINUMERIK 828D, and SYIL lists a rotary guide bushing, back live tools and a front unloading device among the features.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the G3 variants and their bar sizes?

SYIL lists three: G3 L326, G3 L385 and G3 L386. Maximum bar diameter is 32 mm (1.3 in) on the G3 L326 and 38 mm (1.5 in) on the G3 L385 and G3 L386. The spindle through hole is printed as Φ37 mm / Φ39 mm, and the back spindle clamps the same diameter as the main spindle on each variant.

02 How fast do the G3 spindles run?

SYIL prints the main spindle speed as 8,000 rpm (rotary guide sleeve 6,000) / 6,000 rpm (rotary cylinder). The back spindle runs to 8,000 rpm and the radial live tools to 6,000 rpm. Spindle power is 6.3 kW (8.4 hp) on the main spindle and 4.2 kW (5.6 hp) on the back spindle.

03 What is the maximum part length on the G3?

With the rotary guide sleeve, 310 mm (12.2 in). With no guide bushing the limit is 2.5D, to a maximum of 80 mm or 90 mm depending on the bar size. The fixed guide sleeve row of SYIL's table is empty for the G3.

04 Which tools does the G3 hold?

External cylindrical tools are listed as 6(□16) / 1(□20)+5(□16). There are four ER20 end face machining tools, radial live tools 1(ER20)+3(ER16), a deep hole tool holder 2(ER16) and four ER16 back machining tools. Back powered tools are printed as 4(ER16) / Optional.

05 Should I choose the G3 or the SYIL G2?

Choose by bar diameter first. The SYIL G2 covers 20 mm (0.8 in) bar, with 26 mm (1.0 in) variants, weighs 2,900 kg (6,393 lb) and reaches 180 mm (7.1 in) with its rotary guide sleeve. The G3 starts at 32 mm (1.3 in), reaches 310 mm (12.2 in) and weighs 3,750 kg (8,267 lb).
