SYIL L4 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the SYIL L4 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from SYIL or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Shafts are the job of the SYIL L4. It is the largest CNC lathe SYIL lists, with a 250 mm (9.8 in) chuck, an A2-8 spindle nose and a maximum workpiece diameter of ø520 mm (20.5 in), and it comes in three bed lengths. SYIL gives the maximum workpiece length as 800 mm (1,100 mm / 1,500 mm) and the Z travel as 850 mm (1,150 mm / 1,550 mm).

The spindle is sized for that work. Power is listed as 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) and top speed is 3,500 rpm, lower than the smaller L models and appropriate for larger diameters. A spindle bore of ø91 mm (3.6 in) with a ø75 mm (3.0 in) through-bore lets thick bar and tube pass through the headstock.

Long parts need support, and the L4 specification includes tailstock figures: an MT5 sleeve taper and a tailstock rapid traverse of 10 m/min (394 ipm). For slender shafts SYIL lists a centre-column steady rest as an option. X travel is printed as 260+10 mm, and both X and Z rapid at 30 m/min (1,181 ipm).

Tooling is a 12-station servo turret taking 25 × 25 mm shanks and ø40 mm (1.6 in) boring bars, with tool-to-tool indexing between 0.2 s and 0.5 s. A Power Turret in BMT65 size is on the options list, so milling and cross-drilling on this machine should be treated as an extra and confirmed in the quotation.

Weight goes with bed length: 6,200 kg / 6,800 kg / 7,220 kg. Swing over the bed is ø630 mm (24.8 in) and over the carriage ø330 mm (13.0 in). As on every SYIL machine the control is the Siemens SINUMERIK 828D, and the ball screws and linear guides are THK.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Three bed lengths, with maximum workpiece length listed as 800 mm (1,100 mm / 1,500 mm)
  • ø75 mm (3.0 in) through-spindle bore on an A2-8 nose
  • Spindle power of 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp)
  • ø520 mm (20.5 in) maximum workpiece diameter with ø630 mm (24.8 in) swing over the bed
  • MT5 tailstock, with a centre-column steady rest available as an option

Limitations

  • Top spindle speed is 3,500 rpm, below the 4,000 rpm of the SYIL L3
  • The standard turret is a servo turret; the BMT65 Power Turret is an option
  • Tailstock rapid traverse is 10 m/min (394 ipm), slower than the 30 m/min of the axes
  • Weights of 6,200 kg / 6,800 kg / 7,220 kg call for foundation and rigging planning
  • No Y axis or counter spindle appears in the L4 specification

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How long a part can the SYIL L4 turn?

SYIL prints the maximum workpiece length as 800 mm (1,100 mm / 1,500 mm), which converts to 31.5 in (43.3 in / 59.1 in), and the Z travel as 850 mm (1,150 mm / 1,550 mm). The three figures correspond to three bed lengths, so name the length you need when requesting a quotation.

02 What is the spindle capacity of the L4?

The spindle has an A2-8 nose and carries a 250 mm (9.8 in) chuck. Spindle bore is ø91 mm (3.6 in) and the through-bore is ø75 mm (3.0 in). Maximum speed is 3,500 rpm and spindle power is listed as 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp).

03 Does the L4 have live tooling?

The L4 is specified with a 12-station servo turret, and SYIL lists a Power Turret in BMT65 size among the options. The page's specification rows on live tooling do not agree with that option, so ask SYIL which turret and which driven-tool interface a quoted machine carries.

04 How does the L4 compare with the SYIL L3?

The L4 is the larger turning machine. The SYIL L3 has a 200 mm (7.9 in) chuck, a ø52 mm (2.0 in) through-bore and a ø380 mm (15.0 in) maximum workpiece diameter; the L4 has a 250 mm (9.8 in) chuck, a ø75 mm (3.0 in) through-bore and ø520 mm (20.5 in). The SYIL L3 in turn has a Power Turret as standard and is offered with a Y axis and a counter spindle.

05 How heavy is the L4?

SYIL lists three weights, 6,200 kg / 6,800 kg / 7,220 kg (13,668 lb / 14,991 lb / 15,917 lb), in the same order as the three bed lengths. Check the floor loading and crane capacity for the version you plan to install.
