Hwacheon H8

The Hwacheon H8 is a horizontal machining center built around 800 x 800 mm (31.5 x 31.5 in) pallets, with 1,400 x 1,150 x 1,250 mm (55.1 x 45.3 x 49.2 in) of X, Y and Z travel and a full 360° B axis that indexes in 1° steps, or 0.001° as an option. Two servo-driven rotary pallets swap in 16 s (180°), so one can be loaded while the other is in the cut. Each pallet carries up to 2,200 kgf (4,850 lb), and the work envelope takes parts up to Ø1,450 mm (Ø57.1 in) across and 1,450 mm (57.1 in) high.

Two spindles are offered, both on a BBT-50 taper with CAT-50 as an option. The 8K version is gear driven and runs to 8,000 rpm, the choice for large face mills and heavy roughing in steel or cast iron, where torque at low speed decides the cut. The 12K version has a built-in motor and reaches 12,000 rpm for finishing and smaller tools. The table gives one power rating for the spindle, 35 / 22 kW (46.9 / 29.5 hp), on Ø100 mm (Ø3.9 in) bearings with oil-jet lubrication.

The magazine holds 40 tools as standard, selected by fixed address, with options of 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 pockets. Tools can be up to 600 mm (23.6 in) long and 30 kgf (66 lb), and up to Ø125 mm (Ø4.9 in) with the neighbouring pockets loaded or Ø300 mm (Ø11.8 in) with them empty. Rapids are 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) on all three axes and a 90° B index takes 2.5 s.

The Hwacheon H6 is the smaller sibling, sharing the spindle choice, the 40-tool magazine and the two-pallet changer but running 630 x 630 mm (24.8 x 24.8 in) pallets rated at 1,600 kgf (3,527 lb). Pick the H8 when the part or its fixture outgrows that pallet. Plan the site for a 100 kVA supply, a 1,000 L coolant tank, 7,660 x 4,440 mm (301.6 x 174.8 in) of floor, 3,864 mm (152.1 in) of height and a machine weight of 33,000 kgf (72,752 lb).
