ShopSabre RC10 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the ShopSabre RC10 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from ShopSabre or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The ShopSabre RC10 is the 5x10 member of the RC Series, with a cut area of 62 x 122 in (1,575 x 3,099 mm). It exists for shops whose material does not come in 4x8: plastics and composites sold as 5x10 sheet, long plywood, oversize sign panels.

Size is the only thing that changes from the smaller RC machines. The frame is wider as well as longer, 94.5 x 139 x 69 in (2,400 x 3,531 x 1,753 mm) overall, and the gantry spans 62 in of cutting width where the RC4 and RC8 span 51 in. Motion figures stay put at a 1,500 ipm (38.1 m/min) rapid speed and +/- 0.002 in (0.051 mm) positional repeatability, on rack-and-pinion X and Y axes with a ball screw Z.

On a table this long, a few things deserve thought before ordering. Hold-down is one: the packaged tabletop is surfaced MDF with T-slots, and clamping a 10 ft sheet by its edges leaves the middle free to lift, so the optional vacuum pump and a vacuum-capable top are worth adding from the start. Dust collection is another, since the 4 in (102 mm) dust port has to be served by a hose that follows the gantry the whole length of the table.

Z travel is 9 in (229 mm) and clearance 8 in (203 mm). ShopSabre's own guidance is that the RC Series is for hobby, lower-accuracy and low-production work, and that buyers with production needs should look at its ball screw machines. In this sheet size that means the PRO 510, which cuts 72 x 125 x 12 in.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Cut area of 62 x 122 in (1,575 x 3,099 mm) for 5x10 sheet
  • 62 in of cutting width against the 51 in of the RC8, on the same RC construction
  • Welded structural steel frame and steel tube gantry with a dual-drive Y axis
  • Same 9 in (229 mm) Z travel and 1,500 ipm (38.1 m/min) rapid speed as the smaller RC models

Limitations

  • Needs 94.5 x 139 in (2,400 x 3,531 mm) of floor before loading space is counted
  • Rack-and-pinion X and Y with +/- 0.002 in (0.051 mm) repeatability
  • Surfaced MDF and T-slots are the packaged hold-down; vacuum pumps are optional
  • The table lists no weight, power or spindle speed range for this size

Best For

Plastic, foam and composite sheet in 5x10 format Large sign faces and exhibit panels up to 122 in long Low-production shops that occasionally cut 5x10 plywood Long parts such as snowboard or paddleboard blanks

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size material does the ShopSabre RC10 handle?

The cut area is 62 x 122 in (1,575 x 3,099 mm), so a 5x10 sheet fits with a small margin on each edge. Gantry clearance is 8 in (203 mm) and Z travel is 9 in (229 mm).

02 How does the RC10 differ from the RC8?

Only in size. The RC8 cuts 51 x 97 in and the RC10 cuts 62 x 122 in. The RC10 footprint is 94.5 x 139 x 69 in (2,400 x 3,531 x 1,753 mm) against 79 x 116 x 69 in for the RC8. Rapid speed, repeatability, Z travel and drive system are the same on both.

03 Should I choose the RC10 or the PRO 510?

The PRO 510 has ball screws on X, dual Y and Z, AC servo motors, +/- 0.001 in repeatability and 16 in of Z travel. The RC10 has rack-and-pinion X and Y, +/- 0.002 in repeatability and 9 in of Z travel. ShopSabre points production and higher-accuracy work to its ball screw machines and positions the RC for low-production shops.

04 What software and control come with the RC10?

Vectric VCarve PRO CAD/CAM is included, covering nesting, 2D, 2.5D and 3D work. The machine has ShopSabre's own controller with an at-machine PC running Windows, a solid-state drive for job storage, and network and USB file transfer.
