How much does the CMS Genesi cost?

Price estimate

Uncertain

We do not have a price for the CMS Genesi that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.

CMS Genesi — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CMS Genesi that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The CMS Genesi is a 5-axis trimming center for plastics and composites with a fixed bridge and moving plates. The head stays on the bridge while two plates carry the work beneath it, and the Z-axis stroke of 1,400 mm (55.1 in) leaves room for deep thermoformed shells.

Trimming is light, fast cutting, and the spindles reflect that. The CX5 operating unit is rated 8.5 kW (S1) at 24000 rpm on HSK 63F; a CX5 10 version gives 10 kW (S1), and a CX5 8 version runs to 40000 rpm on the small HSK 32E taper for fine tools. None of these is a roughing spindle, so the machine is not meant for cutting patterns from solid block.

Two models differ in X only: 6,000 mm (236.2 in) on the 6035 and 4,000 mm (157.5 in) on the 4035. The Y/V stroke is 3,500 mm (137.8 in). Rapids are 90 m/min in X and Y and 70 m/min in Z, and the rotary axes move at 14000 °/min, quick enough to keep the tool normal to a tightly curved trim line. B travels ±120° and C ± 370°, which CMS says avoids repositioning during contouring.

The plates can be used alternately in a pendular cycle, one being loaded while the other is cut, or coupled into a single zone for pieces up to 6 meters wide. CMS supplies a programming system called Smart4Cut that generates the trimming path.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Z-axis stroke of 1,400 mm (55.1 in) for high-drawing thermoformed parts
  • Rotary axis rapids of 14000 °/min with C travel of ± 370°
  • Moving plates for pendular cycle or a single coupled zone up to 6 meters wide
  • CX5 8 operating unit reaches 40000 rpm on HSK 32E
  • Linear rapids of 90 m/min in X and Y and 70 m/min in Z

Limitations

  • Operating units top out at 10 kW (S1), 12 kW (S6), so heavy milling is outside its scope
  • Torque is 8 Nm (S1) at most on the listed units
  • Only two X strokes are listed, 6,000 mm (236.2 in) and 4,000 mm (157.5 in)

Best For

Trimming of large thermoformed plastic parts Contour cutting and drilling of composite shells Pendular production on two moving plates

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What kind of machine is the CMS Genesi?

CMS describes it as a machining center with fixed bridge and moving plates, designed for high-speed processing of plastics and composite materials. It is aimed at trimming, including high-drawing thermoformed parts.

02 What sizes are available?

Two models: the 6035 with an X stroke of 6,000 mm (236.2 in) and the 4035 with 4,000 mm (157.5 in). Both have a Y/V stroke of 3,500 mm (137.8 in) and a Z stroke of 1,400 mm (55.1 in).

03 Which spindles does it use?

Three CX5 operating units are listed, all liquid cooled. The CX5 gives 8.5 kW (S1), 10 kW (S6), 24000 rpm on HSK 63F. The CX5 10 gives 10 kW (S1), 12 kW (S6), 24000 rpm on HSK 63F. The CX5 8 gives 8 kW (S1), 9 kW (S6), 40000 rpm on HSK 32E.

04 How do the moving plates work?

CMS states that the mobile plates can be used in a pendular cycle or in a single zone with coupled plates. Coupled, they allow the cutting of pieces up to 6 meters wide.
