Price estimate
We do not have a price for the ROMI VT 2500M that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
From the ROMI VT 2500M upward the VT Series becomes a twin-column machine. The cross rail hangs between two cast columns joined by a traverse and is moved by two servomotors and ball screws to programmed stops, and that structure buys height: 2,100 mm (83 in) of turning height with the ram, where the two smaller models stop at 1,500 mm.
Part weight rises in step. The 2,500 mm (98 in) chuck is rated for 25,000 kg (55,100 lbs). Maximum turning diameter is 2,700 mm (106 in), while a part of up to 2,800 mm (110 in) can swing, a small margin that is useful for a casting with lugs or an uneven rim. Table speed runs from 1 to 180 rpm with a first range of 1 to 65 rpm.
Tall parts need a long ram, and this one travels 1,500 mm (59 in). It is forged, hardened and ground steel in a 250 x 250 mm (9.8 x 9.8 in) section, with hydraulic tool clamping and a driven spindle: ISO 50, 3 to 3,000 rpm, 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft). A turbine casing or a large valve body can be bored deep and then drilled and tapped on its flange in the same clamping, using the C axis at up to 52,000 Nm (38,350 lb-ft).
The cross rail is set in 9 steps over 1,386 mm, and programmed X travel is 1,695 mm (67 in). Rapids stay at 20 m/min (787 in/min). Plan for a building: the machine is 6.8 m (268 in) high, takes 9.0 x 5.2 m (354 x 205 in) and weighs 57,000 kg (125,700 lbs). Twenty tools fit the magazine.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Turning height of 2,100 mm (83 in) with 1,500 mm (59 in) of ram travel
- Chuck load of 25,000 kg (55,100 lbs)
- Programmable cross rail on twin columns with pre-programmed stops
- C axis torque of 52,000 Nm (38,350 lb-ft)
- Swing of 2,800 mm (110 in), above the 2,700 mm (106 in) turning diameter
Limitations
- Table speed tops out at 180 rpm
- Stands 6.8 m (268 in) high, which rules out many existing bays
- Driven tool torque of 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) is the same as on the smallest model
- Net weight of 57,000 kg (125,700 lbs)
