ROMI C 2600H

Nothing in Romi's horizontal lathe catalogue is larger than the ROMI C 2600H. It swings 2,580 mm (102 in) over the bed and 2,030 mm (80 in) over the cross slide, and its headstock allows 44,200 Nm of torque, the highest figure in the range.

Unusually, the swing over the cross slide and the swing in front of a short carriage are the same here, 2,030 mm (80 in). On the other large models the short carriage buys extra diameter. On this one the long slide already clears a part of that size, so a roll body two metres across can be turned along its whole length with 1,120 mm (44 in) of cross travel behind the tool.

Speed is modest by design. Range I covers 1 to 89 rpm and range II ends at 300 rpm, driven by a 155 hp / 114 kW motor. At these diameters the low range does the roughing and the high range the finishing of journals and seats. Timken bearings carry the A2-20” spindle, which has a 305 mm (12 in) thru-hole.

Load capacity is 50,000 kg (110,200 lbs) between centers, supported by a tailstock with a 330 mm (13 in) quill and a 100 x 60° live center. Centers are 1,310 mm (52 in) above the bed, so both the headstock end and the tailstock have operator platforms. Five bed lengths go from 4 to 12 m. The 6.0 m machine weighs about 61,000 kg (134,500 lbs), covers 11.8 x 4.5 m (465 x 177 in) and draws on 150 kVA. A C type steady rest for Ø 300 to 800 mm is among the options.
