ROMI D 600 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the ROMI D 600 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Romi or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The ROMI D 600 is the base model of Romi’s D Series vertical machining centers: an ISO 40 machine with 600 mm (23.6 in) of X travel, 610 mm (24 in) of Y and 640 mm (25 in) of Z. It differs from the three larger models in more than travel. It has a 20-tool carousel where they have an arm-type changer, a simpler control, and no high-speed spindle option.

The spindle runs from 10 to 10,000 rpm on a 25 hp / 18.5 kW motor coupled directly to the cartridge, with 118 Nm (87 lb-ft) of maximum torque. That is the same 10,000 rpm headstock as the rest of the series. Rapid traverse is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on linear roller guides, and cutting feed can be programmed up to 20 m/min (787 ipm).

The table is worth a second look. Its surface is 914 x 560 mm (36 x 22 in), the same table the D 800 carries, so it overhangs the 600 mm X stroke and gives room for a vise and a rotary table side by side. Load capacity is 900 kg (2,000 lbs).

A carousel changer is slower than an arm: tool-to-tool time is 4.0 s. In exchange the carousel accepts tools up to 100 mm (3.9 in) in diameter without emptying neighbouring pockets, more than the 75 mm (3 in) of the D 800’s arm changer, though length is limited to 254 mm (10 in). The CNC is a Fanuc 0i-MF Plus without the i-HMI touchscreen of the larger models. At 2,495 x 2,425 mm (98 x 95 in) and 6,000 kg (13,200 lbs), with a single sliding door, it is the one D Series machine that fits a tight cell.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Table of 914 x 560 mm (36 x 22 in), larger than the 600 mm (23.6 in) X travel, with 900 kg (2,000 lbs) of load capacity
  • 10,000 rpm ISO 40 spindle with 25 hp / 18.5 kW and 118 Nm (87 lb-ft)
  • Carousel takes 100 mm (3.9 in) tools in adjacent pockets and 200 mm (7.9 in) with neighbours empty
  • Smallest footprint in the series at 2,495 x 2,425 mm (98 x 95 in)
  • Y travel of 610 mm (24 in) and Z travel of 640 mm (25 in), the same as on the larger models

Limitations

  • Only 20 tools, and a 4.0 s tool-to-tool change
  • No 15,000 rpm version; that headstock is offered from the D 800 upward
  • Rapid traverse is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm), against 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) on the D 800
  • Fanuc 0i-MF Plus control without the i-HMI touchscreen

Best For

Toolroom and prototype work within 600 x 610 x 640 mm travels Jobs that need few tools but large cutters, up to 200 mm (7.9 in) Shops short of floor space Vise and fourth-axis setups on the 914 mm (36 in) table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does the ROMI D 600 differ from the D 800?

Beyond the shorter X travel, the D 600 has a 20-tool carousel, 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) rapids and a Fanuc 0i-MF Plus control. The D 800 has an automatic arm changer with 30 / 48 tools, 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) rapids and the i-HMI version of the control. Both share the 914 x 560 mm (36 x 22 in) table.

02 What spindle does the D 600 have?

An ISO 40 spindle with a BT / BBT interface, running from 10 to 10,000 rpm. The main motor is rated 25 hp / 18.5 kW and maximum torque is 118 Nm (87 lb-ft). Romi offers no 15,000 rpm headstock on this model.

03 How big a tool can the D 600 changer hold?

Up to 100 mm (3.9 in) in diameter with all 20 pockets in use, or 200 mm (7.9 in) with the adjacent stations empty. Maximum length is 254 mm (10 in) and maximum weight 6 kg (13 lbs) per tool, with 68 kg (150 lbs) allowed on the changer in total.

04 How much weight can the D 600 table carry?

The table takes 900 kg (2,000 lbs), uniformly distributed, on a 914 x 560 mm (36 x 22 in) surface with 5 T-slots. The distance from spindle nose to table runs from 110 to 750 mm (4.3 to 30 in), which sets the tallest fixture and part stack.
