How much does the Reiden RX14 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Reiden RX14 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Reiden RX14 is a 5-axis machining center with a square 1,800 x 1,800 mm (70.9 in) X/Y field and 1,210 mm (47.6 in) of Z, built around what Reiden calls the trigonal milling head. The head carries a single A axis in a special arrangement, and Reiden states that dihedral angles from 0° to +105° can be machined with only that one axis. The table lists the A axis as +/- 105° and the C axis, in the rotary table, as 360°.
Three spindle drives are listed, each with a pair of power and torque figures. The main drive is 94 / 113 kW with 300 / 410 Nm. The other two carry the name DDT, which Reiden calls its patented spindle drive concept. One is a slow, strong unit: 105 / 125 kW, 3,000 rpm and 844 / 1,202 Nm. The other gives 63 / 75 kW and 200 / 275 Nm and runs to 14,000 rpm. A shop cutting steel or cast iron with big face mills will look at the first; the second is the finishing and light-alloy spindle.
Turning is possible with the spindle clamped and an optional rotary table. Reiden quotes a maximum of 400 rpm, with 250 rpm in brackets and no note on which table the lower figure belongs to. The turning table is Ø 1,400 / Ø 1,800 mm and the maximum rotary diameter Ø 1,900 / Ø 2,200 mm. For milling, the table is listed at Ø 1,400 x 1,200 mm.
Magazines hold 92 / 120 / 192 / 299 tools, with tool lengths of 600 / 900 / 1,200 mm and diameters of 125 / 250 / 500 mm, so long boring tools and large cutters can stay in the changer. Milling pallets measure Ø 1,800 x 1,400 mm and turning pallets Ø 1,400 / Ø 1,800 mm. Each takes 4,500 kg (9,921 lb). The changer is offered in sizes of 2 / 3 / 4 or as linear storage, and Reiden notes that its automation needs no additional master computer. The machine weighs 42,000 kg (92,593 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- DDT spindle with 844 / 1,202 Nm at 3,000 rpm for heavy cuts, or a second DDT spindle that runs to 14,000 rpm on 63 / 75 kW
- Trigonal milling head: one A axis covers dihedral angles from 0° to +105°
- Square X/Y travel of 1,800 x 1,800 mm with 1,210 mm (47.6 in) of Z
- Pallet load of 4,500 kg (9,921 lb), the highest printed for any of the four RX machines
- Tools up to 1,200 mm long and 500 mm in diameter, in magazines of up to 299 places
- Optional turning at up to 400 rpm on Ø 1,400 / Ø 1,800 mm turning tables
Limitations
- No spindle taper is printed in the RX14 table; the RX18 table states HSK 100
- The rotary table for turning is optional and no turning torque is printed
- The 844 / 1,202 Nm DDT spindle stops at 3,000 rpm, and the 14,000 rpm DDT spindle offers 200 / 275 Nm
- Z travel is 1,210 mm (47.6 in) against 1,610 mm on the RX18, which matters for tall parts on a pallet
- A weight of 42,000 kg (92,593 lb) calls for a prepared foundation and heavy rigging

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It is Reiden's swivel head with a specially arranged A axis. Reiden states that dihedral angles from 0° to +105° can be machined with only one axis. It adds that milling with the head in the horizontal spindle position loads the X and Y axes continually in the same direction, which reduces cross-stresses to a minimum.
02
Three drives are listed. The main drive has 94 / 113 kW and 300 / 410 Nm. A DDT drive has 105 / 125 kW, 3,000 rpm and 844 / 1,202 Nm. A second DDT drive has 63 / 75 kW, 14,000 rpm and 200 / 275 Nm. DDT is the name of the spindle drive concept Reiden describes as patented.
03
Yes, as an option. With the spindle clamping and the optional rotary table Reiden gives a maximum turning speed of 400 rpm, with 250 rpm in brackets. Turning tables and turning pallets are listed at Ø 1,400 / Ø 1,800 mm. The table prints no turning torque, so ask for it if the turning work is heavy.
04
The RX14 travels 1,800 mm in X and Y and 1,210 mm in Z; the RX18 travels 2,200 mm in X and Y and 1,610 mm in Z. Both tables print the same power and torque pairs for the three spindle drives. The RX14 weighs 42,000 kg against 52,000 kg for the RX18, and the RX14 pallet load is the higher of the two at 4,500 kg against 4,000 kg on the RX18.
05
Reiden lists magazines with 92 / 120 / 192 / 299 places. Maximum tool length is given as 600 / 900 / 1,200 mm and maximum tool diameter as 125 / 250 / 500 mm. The table does not tie each figure to a magazine version, so confirm which combination applies to the magazine being quoted.
