Overview
The Palmary FCL-1810 is the wide-wheel version of the FCL-18 CNC centerless grinder. The grinding wheel is Ø455 mm by 255 mm and the regulating wheel Ø255 mm by 255 mm, where the FCL-18 has 205 mm wheels.
Width is the whole point, and it pays in two ways. In through-feed grinding a longer grinding zone lets the part travel faster for the same stock removal, or leaves more of the wheel for sparking out. In infeed grinding it sets the longest part that can be plunged in one hit. Buyers who grind bar or long pins all day are the ones who should pay for the extra width.
The drive is unchanged, which is worth knowing. The grinding wheel motor is still 15 HP (11 kW) and the regulating wheel servo 3 kW (4.0 hp), so a full-width infeed cut has less power per millimetre of wheel than on the narrower machine. Standard grinding range is Ø1 to Ø60 mm, or Ø40 to Ø150 mm with a special arrangement.
The regulating wheel runs from 10 to 300 rpm, tilts +5° to -3° and swivels ±5°. Lubrication is by an automatic electric lubricator. The tanks hold 170 L (44.9 gal) of coolant and 88 L (23.2 gal) of hydraulic oil. A FANUC CNC controller is standard and the machine weighs 3,000 kg (6,614 lb).
