How much does the Onsrud 121G 5-Axis cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Onsrud 121G 5-Axis that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Onsrud 121G 5-Axis is the smallest machine in the 28 in (711 mm) block of Onsrud's G-Series 5-Axis table. Its table is 121 in (3,074 mm) in X by 61 in (1,550 mm) in Y, about ten feet by five.
Twenty-eight inches of stroke is where a 5-axis router starts to machine shapes, not just edges. A plug or mould a foot or so deep can be roughed and finished with the head tilted to keep a short tool on the surface. Seats, small hull sections, aircraft fairings and thermoforming tools are in range. The table sets the limit: the head must get around the part, so the part has to be clearly smaller than 121 in (3,074 mm) by 61 in (1,550 mm).
The frame is compact in plan and tall. It is 227 in (5,766 mm) long, 142 in (3,607 mm) wide and 155 in (3,937 mm) high. Those are the same figures Onsrud gives for the 3-axis 121G.
Three vacuum zones are standard, though moulds and blocks are more often bolted or clamped. The spindle is 18 hp (13.4 kW) and 24,000 rpm. For aluminum tooling the 33 hp (24.6 kW) spindle is the listed upgrade. Onsrud also offers tool measurement devices, which matter on 5-axis work because tool length errors show up directly on the surface.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 28 in (711 mm) Z-stroke in the shortest frame of the block: 227 in (5,766 mm)
- 5-axis machining of plugs, moulds and fairings
- 33 hp (24.6 kW) spindle available for aluminum
- Tool measurement devices offered
Limitations
- Table of 121 in (3,074 mm) by 61 in (1,550 mm) limits part size once head clearance is allowed for
- Machine height of 155 in (3,937 mm)
- Only 3 vacuum zones as standard

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table is 121 in (3,074 mm) by 61 in (1,550 mm) and the Z-stroke is 28 in (711 mm). A 5-axis head needs space around and above the part, so realistic part sizes are well inside those figures. Onsrud's table does not list axis travels.
02
155 in (3,937 mm). The machine is 227 in (5,766 mm) long and 142 in (3,607 mm) wide. The height is the main siting constraint for a machine with this small a footprint.
03
Yes, in Onsrud's tables. Both list a 121 in (3,074 mm) by 61 in (1,550 mm) table, a frame 227 in (5,766 mm) long, 142 in (3,607 mm) wide and 155 in (3,937 mm) high, 3 vacuum zones and a 28 in stroke.
04
The 169G 5-Axis, with a table X of 169 in (4,293 mm), 4 vacuum zones and a frame 275 in (6,985 mm) long. Width, height and stroke are unchanged.
