CMS Tracer 200X-300X — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CMS Tracer 200X-300X that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The CMS Tracer 200X-300X is a pair of CNC nesting centres for drilling and routing plastics and advanced materials. They are the fast machines of the Tracer line: vectorial speed in X-Y is 113 m/min in the PRO-SPEED version and 84 m/min in PRO-SPACE.

Between the two, the 300x is the taller and better-equipped model. Its Z axis panel passage is 180 mm (7.1 in) against 150 mm (5.9 in) on the 200x, and its tool changer takes up to 53 places against 38. Both list a 3- or 4-axis spindle of up to 15 kW (20.5 hp). A second power row of 13.5 kW (18.4 hp) applies to the 300x only; CMS's text speaks of a gantry able to house 5-axis units with 13.5Kw power.

Hold-down is the centre of the design. With the X-Vacuum System the vacuum is concentrated in the area of the worktable involved in machining, which CMS recommends for small parts and for very breathable materials that would otherwise shift. That matters in plastics nesting, where thin sheet and foam-backed laminates are hard to hold.

The drilling unit has up to 21 independent vertical spindles and 12 horizontal spindles at 8000 rpm, with a 125 mm (4.9 in) integrated blade in X. A 14-station FAST rack magazine rides in the mobile cabin for tool changes in less than 15 seconds. Both models can be supplied as a cell with automatic loading and an unloading belt.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Vectorial speed of 113 m/min in the PRO-SPEED version
  • X-Vacuum System concentrates vacuum in the area being machined
  • Up to 53 places on the tool changer of the 300x
  • Cell version with automatic loading and unloading belt
  • 14-station FAST rack magazine for tool changes in less than 15 seconds

Limitations

  • Panel passage is 150 mm (5.9 in) on the 200x and 180 mm (7.1 in) on the 300x, so formed parts with depth do not fit
  • The 13.5 kW (18.4 hp) unit is listed for the 300x only
  • CMS's table gives no X-Y working area and no clean spindle speed figure for these models
06

Best For

High-volume nesting of plastic and composite sheet Small parts and breathable materials that are hard to hold by vacuum Automated cells with loading and unloading belt

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the Tracer 200x and 300x?

The Z axis panel passage is 150 mm (5.9 in) on the 200x and 180 mm (7.1 in) on the 300x. The tool changer has up to 38 places on the 200x and up to 53 places on the 300x. The 13.5 kW (18.4 hp) spindle row is filled in for the 300x only.

02 How fast are these machines?

CMS lists a vectorial speed in X-Y of 84 m/min for the PRO-SPACE version and 113 m/min for the PRO-SPEED version, the same for both models. The Tracer 100, by comparison, is listed at 78 m/min in its PRO-SPEED version.

03 What does the X-Vacuum System do?

It concentrates the vacuum in the worktable area involved in machining. CMS describes it as ideal for machining small parts or very breathable materials without the risk that the workpiece may move.

04 Can the Tracer 200X-300X be automated?

Yes. CMS states that the models are also available in cell version with both automatic loading and unloading belt. Extraction needs to handle 4430 m3/h of exhaust air through a 250 mm (9.8 in) outlet.
