How much does the Niigata HN63E cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HN63E that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With a 630 mm × 630 mm pallet, 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) of load and a 901 N·m (665 lb-ft) BT50 spindle, the Niigata HN63E is the mid-size machine in the HN-E family of box-way horizontal machining centers. It moves 1,080 mm (42.5 in) in X, 930 mm (36.6 in) in Y and 830 mm (32.7 in) in Z, and the maximum workpiece is φ1,080 mm × 1,000 mm.
Two structural features are named by Niigata for this model and not for the smaller HN50E. The first is the monster column, which sits on a wide Z-axis guide surface. The second is a Z-axis load reduction device. Because the column carries the spindle head on its front side, the load on the Z slideway is uneven; the device takes 25% of that load off the axis and spreads the rest evenly, which Niigata says suppresses deterioration over time. On a machine that depends on scraped sliding surfaces for its accuracy, that is a meaningful detail.
The pallet load can be raised. Niigata lists 1,200 kg for the 1° indexing table and, for the optional NC table, 1,200 kg with a further option of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb).
Spindle choice follows the series pattern. Standard is 6,000 min-1 with 901 N·m and 26 kW (34.9 hp). The high-speed option trades torque for 12,000 min-1 (420 N·m, 30 kW), and the high-rigidity option uses cylindrical roller bearings and tops out at 3,500 min-1. Rapids are 30 m/min on all axes, and the tool magazine grows from 62 tools to as many as 255.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Z-axis load reduction device takes 25% of the load off the Z axis, a feature Niigata lists for the HN63E
- Monster column on a wide Z-axis guide surface
- Pallet load of 1,200 kg (2,646 lb), with 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) as an option on the NC table
- 901 N·m (665 lb-ft) at up to 6,000 min-1 from the standard 26 kW spindle
- Workpiece up to φ1,080 mm × 1,000 mm
Limitations
- Rapid traverse of 30 m/min is half that of the N700, which has the same pallet size
- Standard indexing is 1°; the 0.001° NC table is an option
- Top speed of the standard spindle is 6,000 min-1, and the 12,000 min-1 option gives only 420 N·m

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Niigata explains that the column carrying the spindle head is loaded on its front side, so the HN63E is fitted with a device that reduces the load on the Z axis by 25%. By distributing the load evenly it is meant to suppress deterioration of the slideway over time.
02
1,200 kg (2,646 lb), evenly distributed, on the standard 1° indexing table. For the optional NC table Niigata lists 1,200 kg and a 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) option. The part can be up to φ1,080 mm in swing and 1,000 mm high.
03
Travels are 1,080 mm in X, 930 mm in Y and 830 mm in Z. Rapid traverse is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on X, Y and Z. The machine uses square sliding guideways rather than rolling guides, which is why the rapid rate is moderate.
04
For general steel and difficult-to-cut alloys the standard spindle gives 901 N·m up to 6,000 min-1. If most work is roughing at low speed, the high-rigidity option with cylindrical roller bearings is limited to 3,500 min-1 at the same torque. The high-speed option reaches 12,000 min-1 but with 420 N·m.
