Machitech Maverick MV 5x5

The Machitech Maverick MV 5x5 is the smallest table Machitech builds: a square plasma table with a processing range of 66 x 66 in (1,676 x 1,676 mm) on a footprint 103 in (2,616 mm) wide and 103 in (2,616 mm) long. The Maverick MV is the entry-level line, and this size is its starting point.

A square bed suits a shop that buys plate in pieces or cuts from remnants. It will not take a full-length sheet. The table carries a workpiece of 1,530 lbs (694 kg), and the machine itself weighs 1,450 lbs (658 kg) before the plasma source is added, light enough to be placed by forklift using the fork pockets front and rear.

The motion system is the same on every Maverick. An aluminum gantry, machined and low in inertia, runs on self-cleaning V groove bearings and is driven from both sides by Nema 34 motors. Maximum cutting speed is 800 ipm (20,320 mm/min) and rapid traverse 1,200 ipm (30,480 mm/min). Positional accuracy is 0.004 in (0.1 mm) with 0.002 in (0.05 mm) repeatability, which is looser than the servo-driven Silver Cut and adequate for air plasma work.

Plasma amperage is listed as 45 to 125A, 200A, and maximum plate thickness as 1.5 in (38 mm). The bed works as a water table or a downdraft table. One limitation is specific to this size: pipe cutting is marked not available on the 5x5, while the two longer Mavericks take it as an option. Laser plate positioning, automatic torch height control, the NX4 control and ProNest LT are included. Manual bevel, pneumatic scribing and oxyfuel are options.
