Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Messer PlateMaster II that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Messer PlateMaster II is the plain rail gantry in the maker's range, sold in cutting widths of 6 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft and 12 ft with standard cutting lengths up to 72 ft (21.9 m). It cuts 26 ga. to 6 in (152 mm) thick plate and carries up to six oxyfuel torch stations, of which two at most can be plasma.
Messer positions it as an economical plate machine, and the drive shows where the economy lies: 2.3 hp (1.7 kW) digital brushless AC drives, against the 21 hp (15.7 kW) drive of the Titan III. They still move the gantry at up to 1,400 ipm (35.6 m/min), through 4.7 in (119 mm) hardened pinions on a 1 in (25 mm) wide gear rack mounted in machined steps. The floor rails are machined from 90 lb/yd crane rail stock under a dual box beam.
The dimension table is complete for this model, which helps layout. A 6 ft machine takes a table up to 88 in (2,235 mm) wide, has a rail gauge of 109 in (2,769 mm) and needs at least 147 in (3,734 mm) of clearance. The 12 ft machine takes a 160 in (4,064 mm) table on a 181 in (4,597 mm) gauge with 219 in (5,563 mm) of clearance. Two stations at most cover the full rated cutting width.
Optional precision plasma goes up to 800 amps. Beveling is limited to a manual plasma stripping bevel unit on the X-axis, so contour bevels are outside this machine. Oxyfuel torches are the Turbo Flame or the ALFA on EL-170 or SL-200 lifters, and markers include plasma, air scribe, zinc powder and ink jet. The control is the Global ControlS with a 15 in TFT color touch screen on a left hand console.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Cutting widths of 6 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft and 12 ft, with standard cutting lengths up to 72 ft (21.9 m). Maximum table width is 88 in (2,235 mm), 112 in (2,845 mm), 136 in (3,454 mm) and 160 in (4,064 mm) for the four widths.
02
Machine rail gauge is 109 in (2,769 mm) for the 6 ft machine, 133 in (3,378 mm) for the 8 ft, 157 in (3,988 mm) for the 10 ft and 181 in (4,597 mm) for the 12 ft. Minimum machine clearance is 147 in (3,734 mm), 171 in (4,343 mm), 195 in (4,953 mm) and 219 in (5,563 mm).
03
Up to six oxyfuel torch stations, with a maximum of two plasma stations. Up to two stations will cover the full rated cutting width. A stainless steel drive band spaces the stations for multi-torch cutting.
04
It cuts 26 ga. to 6 in (152 mm) thick plate, in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum. The thick end is oxyfuel work with Turbo Flame or ALFA torches. Precision plasma up to 800 amps is optional.
05
The Global ControlS, a Windows based control with a 15 in TFT color touch screen. The console is mounted on the left hand side and tilts and swivels. An on-board video camera, shown on the control screen, is an option.
