Overview
Handrail is what the Machitech Pipe Cut Rail is built for. It is the smallest of Machitech's pipe machines, taking round pipe from 1.3 in (33 mm) to 8 in (203 mm) in a cutting zone of 21 ft or 24 ft, and it runs on Hypertherm Powermax air plasma only.
Railing work is repetitive and light: copes where a rail meets a post, mitres at corners, and holes for pickets. None of it needs high-definition plasma or a 5-axis head, and the machine is stripped back to match. The spec table lists the 5-axis bevel head and fume extraction as not available. A manual bevel head is included for mitres and saddles.
The mechanics are simple on purpose. A linear gantry carries the torch along the pipe on a double v-bearing system, which grips the rail from top and bottom to stop vertical play. Pipe is loaded from the front onto 6 fixed roller supports, each adjusted by hand for height and alignment, and a pressure roller arm holds the material down during the cut. The chuck drives rotation and is set and clamped manually.
Stated performance is 500 ipm (12,700 mm/min) maximum cutting speed with 0.002 in (0.05 mm) positional accuracy and 0.001 in (0.03 mm) repeatability, the same table figures as the larger pipe machines. Workpiece weight is rated at 25 lbs/ft. Programming differs from the rest of the family: this model uses Hypertherm Rotary Tube Pro, a parametric tool that needs no 3D CAD, where the Pipe Cut SL uses PypeServer. Torch height control is automatic, and the control is the Machitech NX4.
