Overview

The Litz MV-1600B is the heaviest machine of the MV series at 15,000 kg (33,069 lb): a 50-taper vertical machining center with 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of X travel, 800 mm (31.5 in) of Y, 740 mm (29.1 in) of Z and a 1,600 kg (3,527 lb) table load.

Its job is roughing and boring big steel and iron parts. The BT-50 spindle turns at 6,000 rpm with a 15 / 18.5 kW (20 / 25 HP) motor, and a ZF gearbox is offered as an option for buyers who want full power at low speed. Tooling can be as large as 225 mm (8.9 in) in diameter when adjacent pockets are empty, 125 mm (4.9 in) otherwise, and as heavy as 15 kg (33 lb).

Compare it with the MV-1400B before deciding. Spindle, motor and tool limits are identical. What the MV-1600B adds is travel, 800 mm of Y against the 650 mm of the MV-1400B, a table 800 mm wide, and a 1,600 kg load rating against the 1,000 kg of the MV-1400B. If the parts are wide as well as long, that Y travel is what you are buying.

Axis motors are 3.5 / 3.5 / 3.5 kW and the Z axis has a counterweight with central guiding system. Movement is unhurried, with rapids of 20 / 20 / 18 m/min (787 / 787 / 709 ipm) and feed to 8,000 mm/min. The accessory list shows both a worktable half cover and a full enclosure as standard. Supply is 40 kVA, coolant 500 L.
