Overview

Both ball screws of the Vision Wide MN-5032 / MN-5039 are long enough to need support. X travel is 5,100 mm (200.8 in) and Y travel is 3,200 mm (126.0 in) or 3,900 mm (153.5 in), and the maker fits an X, Y-axis ballscrew support device as standard where X is 4 m or more or Y is 3 m or more.

A ball screw is a slender shaft held at its ends. Past a certain length it sags in the middle under its own weight, and when it spins it wants to whip, like a skipping rope. Sag changes the effective pitch along the screw and whip limits the speed at which it can turn. Supports that travel with the nut or sit at intervals along the screw hold it on its axis. The X/Y rapid on this model is 12.5 m/min, and the support is part of what makes that usable over five metres.

It does nothing about heat, however. A long screw grows as it warms, and the remedy for that is XYZ-axis linear scale feedback, which is optional here.

The table is 5,000×2,450 mm (196.9×96.5 in) with a 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) rating. Cutting feed is 1-10,000 mm/min. The spindle is the box way 4,000rpm gear type, 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Are the ball screws supported on the Vision Wide MN-5032?

Yes, on both axes. The X, Y-axis ballscrew support device is standard for an X axis of 4 m or more and a Y axis of 3 m or more; this pair has 5,100 mm (200.8 in) of X and at least 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Y.

02 What Y travel does the MN-5039 have?

3,900 mm (153.5 in). The MN-5032 has 3,200 mm (126.0 in). Both share a 5,000×2,450 mm (196.9×96.5 in) table and 5,100 mm (200.8 in) of X travel.

03 Does the MN-5032 / MN-5039 have linear scales?

XYZ-axis linear scale feedback is on the optional accessory list for the MN series. It is not included in the standard machine.

04 What load does the MN-5032 table take?

20,000 kg (44,092 lb). The MN-5023 and MN-5026, of the same 5,100 mm (200.8 in) X travel, have the same rating on narrower beams.
