Overview
With the LICO LNT-51S the LNT S series changes spindle motor. This multi-slide CNC automatic takes 50.8 mm (2.0 in) bar and is rated 20 kW (27 HP) with the S840Dsl control or 15 kW (20 HP) with the M730, a step above the two smaller sizes. Maximum speed is 4,500 rpm.
The LNT-42S, one size down, is listed at 15 kW (20 HP) with the S840Dsl. So the move to two-inch bar brings a larger motor with it, and the total power required rises to 30 kVA. LICO gives an ISO A2-5 spindle nose for this size and an F58 (Ø51) collet chuck. The through hole is 60 mm (2.4 in) and the draw tube 52 mm (2.0 in).
What does not change is the rest of the machine. The compound slide still travels 115 mm (4.52 in) in Z and 70 mm (2.75 in) in X, the main turret still has 8 positions and 160 mm (6.3 in) of X travel, and the listed weight is still 3,200 kg (7,040 lb) net. A buyer moving up from a smaller LNT gets more bar and more motor on slides of the same reach.
One limit deserves a check on parts near full bar size. The pick-off device that carries the part to back machining is offered with four chucks: TNS42, TNS42E65, HAINBUCH32 and a 4 in chuck, and their capacities are listed as Ø42 / Ø65 / Ø32 / Ø65 mm. A part turned from 50.8 mm (2.0 in) stock will not fit every one of them. The pick-off live tool motor is 3.3 kW (4.4 HP) with the S840Dsl or 3.7 kW (5 HP) with the M730.
