Overview
The Koike Aronson ShopProXHD Katana puts Koike's Katana control and Yaskawa Sigma 7 servo drives on the unitized ShopProXHD table. It is built in two sizes, the SPXHDK-510 and the SPXHDK-612, and is rated for 200-460 amp plasma systems, the high-definition class that the other ShopPro tables do not take.
Speed is the first difference a buyer will see. Rapid traverse is 2,000 ipm (50.8 m/min), twice the figure of the ShopProXHD, and the servo motors carry battery-less absolute encoders. The effective cutting width is 122-1/2 in (3,112 mm) on the smaller machine and 146-1/2 in (3,721 mm) on the larger, a little more than the nominal plate length, with 64-1/2 in (1,638 mm) or 77 in (1,956 mm) across.
The control is a Katana 21 in touchscreen panel PC on a roll-around pedestal that Koike calls an omnidirectional command center. It works from preprogrammed cutting charts for the plasma and torch height control systems, and remote diagnostics are part of it.
Plan the electrical supply differently from the smaller tables: the machine needs 208-240/1/60 at 25 amp, and a high-definition plasma source needs its own three-phase service. The table is a deep design with forklift pockets in a fully welded frame, offered as a water table or a dual zone downdraft table. Table capacity stays at 2 in (51 mm) of mild steel, and tool capacity is 2.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,000 ipm (50.8 m/min) rapid traverse on Yaskawa Sigma 7 servo drives with battery-less absolute encoders
- Takes 200-460 amp plasma systems, the high-definition class
- Katana touchscreen control with preprogrammed cutting charts and remote diagnostics
- Deep table with built-in forklift pockets in a fully welded frame
- Water or dual zone downdraft table
Limitations
- Only two sizes, 5 ft x 10 ft (1.5 m x 3.0 m) and 6 ft x 12 ft (1.8 m x 3.7 m)
- Table capacity is 2 in (51 mm) of mild steel even with a 460 amp plasma system
- Needs 208-240/1/60 at 25 amp for the machine, where the ShopProXHD runs on 115/1/60 at 15 amp
- Options are limited to oxy-fuel and scribe; no pipe attachment is listed for this model

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Control, drives, speed and plasma class. The Katana version has the Katana touchscreen control, Yaskawa Sigma 7 servo drives and 2,000 ipm (50.8 m/min) rapid traverse, and takes 200-460 amp plasma systems. The ShopProXHD uses a FlashCut control, lists 1,000 ipm (25.4 m/min) and takes 45-200 amp systems.
02
Two. The SPXHDK-510 has an effective cutting area of 5 ft x 10 ft (1.5 m x 3.0 m), a machine width of 161 in (4,089 mm) and weighs 4,950 lb (2,245 kg). The SPXHDK-612 covers 6 ft x 12 ft (1.8 m x 3.7 m), is 185 in (4,699 mm) wide and weighs 5,750 lb (2,608 kg).
03
The machine voltage is listed as 208-240/1/60 at 25 amp. That is for the table, drives and control. The plasma power supply is a separate load, and systems in the 200-460 amp range need their own three-phase service sized from the plasma maker's data.
04
The frame is 7 gauge mild steel, fully welded, with forklift pockets built in. Koike notes that a forklift truck is required at each end when lifting from the short side. Water capacity is 590 gallons (2,233 L) on the SPXHDK-510 and 825 gallons (3,123 L) on the SPXHDK-612 in the water-table version.
