STV CNC SparX PRO 10 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the STV CNC SparX PRO 10 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from STV CNC or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The STV CNC SparX PRO 10 cuts a 10 ft x 5 ft envelope, enough for a full 5 x 10 sheet or for a 4 x 8 sheet with room left beside it for a remnant. It is the welded-frame version of the SparX, delivered built and ready to level. Of the standard sizes this is the one bought for throughput: more parts per load and fewer sheet changes.

The PRO frame is an open tubular weldment with welded leg supports, shipped complete, and its water table is a single welded pan 3 in deep that STV CNC calls the Uni-Pan. Plate capacity is 2 in of steel. Above it sits an assembled extruded aluminum gantry with 5.75 in of clearance, guided by a standard linear guide assembly and driven by rack and pinion, with gantry carriage shields against splash. The Z head travels 5.5 in on a precision ground ball lead screw. Drive is by three stepper motors through a 3:1 gear reduction; the maker quotes a motion accuracy of about 0.002 in per 12 in and a step resolution of plus or minus 0.0005 in.

That capacity has a cost in water and floor. The pan holds about 136 gallons, which is a real job to drain and clean. The table occupies about 12 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft. It weighs 1,750 lb. A 5 x 10 sheet of plate cannot be manhandled, so overhead lifting or a forklift with a sheet lifter belongs in the plan along with the table.

MyPlasmCNC is the standard control: downloadable software on a Windows PC that the owner provides, connected to the control box by USB. STV CNC describes it as a basic system and offers its Optimum CNC control as an upgrade with a dedicated Linux mini PC. Homing is automatic through 3 proximity sensors. Torch height control, an E-stop, a magnetic breakaway and collision, ohmic and material detection sensors are all on the base table, which runs wet or dry. No plasma cutter is included.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Welded frame and a single welded water pan: no owner assembly and no sealed pan joints
  • 3 stepper motors with a 3:1 gear reduction; stated motion accuracy of about 0.002 in per 12 in
  • Rated for 2 in steel plate, with 5.75 in of gantry clearance
  • 10 ft x 5 ft envelope for full 5 x 10 sheets, or a 4 x 8 sheet plus a remnant

Limitations

  • The base control is MyPlasmCNC on a customer-supplied Windows PC; the Optimum CNC control is an upgrade
  • Z travel is 5.5 in under a gantry with 5.75 in of clearance, so tall weldments and deep tube will not pass
  • About 136 gallons of water to fill, treat and eventually clean out

Best For

Production nesting on 5 x 10 sheet Long parts up to 10 ft, such as stringers, rails and trailer components Fabrication shops that want a welded table without paying for a servo drive

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What sheet sizes does the SparX PRO 10 take?

Up to 10 ft x 5 ft, so a full 5 x 10 sheet fits, and a 4 x 8 sheet leaves a strip free for a remnant or a second small job. Plate capacity is 2 in of steel. The table weighs 1,750 lb.

02 Is the SparX PRO 10 a water table?

It runs wet or dry. The water table is a single welded pan 3 in deep with interchangeable 1.5 in flat bar slats, and on this model it holds about 136 gallons. Ohmic sensing is provided for material detection, including when cutting dry.

03 How much space does the SparX PRO 10 take?

STV CNC gives the occupied area as about 12 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft. Add room to bring a 10 ft sheet in from one side and to stand at the control. The water pan holds about 136 gallons, so a drain point nearby saves work at cleaning time.

04 How is the SparX PRO 10 delivered?

Fully built. STV CNC ships its PRO welded frame tables assembled by flatbed hotshot truck, and states that a forklift is required at the delivery address for unloading. Nothing has to be bolted or sealed by the owner, which is the main difference from the modular SparX tables.
