Overview

The Messer MPC2000 is a large multi-process gantry for plate up to 28 ft wide. Cutting widths run from 8 ft to 28 ft (2.4 m to 8.5 m), cutting lengths go up to 200 ft (61.0 m), and it cuts 26 ga. to 8 in (203 mm) thick plate. Optional precision plasma goes to 800 amps on up to four straight plasma torches.

The structure is a dual beam: the front process beam, which carries the tools, is separate from the rear utility beam, so that vibration from the services does not reach the cut. The gantry runs on 115 lb/yd machined crane rail with twin 6 hp (4.5 kW) AC drives on the X-axis and one on the Y-axis, and the pinions are held in mesh by an air-over-oil system for zero backlash.

Motion accuracy is +/- 0.010 in (0.25 mm) with repeatability of +/- 0.003 in (0.08 mm) in any 72 in (1,829 mm) move, measured with a laser interferometer.
