Uncertain

We do not have a price for the Juaristi MX5 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.

Juaristi MX5 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Juaristi MX5 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Juaristi or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Juaristi MX5 is the entry size of the MX floor type milling machines: a travelling column with a central head, a 460 x 520 mm (18.1 x 20.5 in) RAM with 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of Z stroke, and vertical travel that starts at 2,000 mm and grows in 500 mm steps to 4,000 mm.

X is modular. The column runs on a bed of 4,000 mm plus N x 2,000 mm, so length is added in 2,000 mm sections and has no stated upper limit in the table. That makes the MX5 a machine sized by the Y and Z it offers. If the part is taller than 4,000 mm or needs more than 1,500 mm of ram reach, the MX7 is the next step, with Y to 6,000 mm and Z of 1,650 – 1,800 mm.

Of the three sizes this one moves quickest. The feed row reads 35-30-30 m/min, against 30-25-25 m/min for the MX7. Juaristi heads the row X, Y, Z, W but prints three values, so treat the first as X and have the rest confirmed.

The milling end is a fixed horizontal head of D 200 x L 550 mm or a 45º universal automatic head indexing at 1º or 0.001º. Head power is 40/46 kW, torque 1,300 / 1,600 Nm (959 / 1,180 lb-ft), and speed 5,000 to 6,000 min-1 through 2 ranges. The table gives these as pairs without saying which head each value belongs to, so the pairing belongs in the quotation.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Fastest feeds of the MX milling range at 35-30-30 m/min
  • X travel extends from 4,000 mm in 2,000 mm sections, so bed length follows the part
  • RAM of 460 x 520 mm section, guided on four sides inside a closed central head
  • 45º universal automatic head indexes at 1º or 0.001º; a fixed horizontal head of D 200 x L 550 mm is also listed
  • Tool changers from 30-120 positions (chain) to 400 positions (robot) and head magazines with up to 10 positions

Limitations

  • Z stroke is a single 1,500 mm figure; deeper reach needs the MX7 or MX9
  • Vertical travel tops out at 4,000 mm
  • Head power peaks at 46 kW and torque at 1,600 Nm, the lowest upper figures in the MX table
  • No tool taper, table data, accuracy or weight in the specification table; rotary tables are separate equipment
06

Best For

Long, low parts such as beams, bedplates and frames Floor-plate work up to 4,000 mm tall Five-sided milling with the 45º universal head Shops that pair a travelling column with a separate rotary table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How long can the X axis of the MX5 be?

The table gives X as 4,000 mm plus N x 2,000 mm. The base travel is 4,000 mm and each added bed section contributes 2,000 mm. Juaristi does not print a maximum, so the practical limit is set by the project and the foundation.

02 What are the Y and Z travels of the MX5?

Y, the vertical head travel, starts at 2,000 mm and is extended in 500 mm steps up to 4,000 mm. Z, the cross travel of the RAM, is 1,500 mm (59.1 in). The RAM section is 460 x 520 mm.

03 What spindle power and speed does the MX5 have?

Head power is listed as 40/46 kW (53.6/61.7 hp), torque as 1,300 / 1,600 Nm and rotation speed as 5,000 – 6,000 min-1, with 2 speed ranges. The table does not say which head each value belongs to, so ask for the exact head data with the offer.

04 Does the MX5 come with a rotary table?

Not as a table row. Juaristi states the MX series works with rotary tables of 8 to 180 tonne capacity and up to 5,000 x 6,000 mm surface area, and that a turning and tilting table can be supplied. These are separate items chosen for the installation.
