Overview
The Johnford DMC-4000x2800-R2-AC5 carries the stronger of the two R2 heads on the Large DMC frame. Spindle power is 31 / 40 kW (41.6 / 53.6 hp), the highest in this group's table, across a speed range of 50~10,000 rpm. The taper is No.50 in the AC51 version and HSK A100 in the AC52 version.
It shares the envelope of its lighter sibling: 4,000 mm (157.4 in) in X, 3,600 mm (141.7 in) in Y, 1,066 mm (42 in) in Z, with a 4,200 x 2,200 mm (165.3 x 86.6 in) table that takes 20,000 kg (44,000 lb). What changes is how hard it can cut. The DMC-4000x2800-R2-AC4 is limited to 10 kg (22 lb) tools of Ø100 mm (Ø3.9 in), whereas this head accepts 20 kg (44 lb) tools up to Ø200 mm (Ø7.8 in) and 400 mm (15.7 in) long.
That makes it the choice when the same setup has to rough and finish. A forging die, a turbine housing or a large structural part in steel or titanium can be opened up with a big cutter and then finished at up to 10,000 rpm without moving to a second machine.
It is also the tallest and, with the 5F, the heaviest of the four models: 6,500 mm (256 in) high and 68,000 kg (149,600 lb). Width is 6,500 mm (256 in) and length 10,900 mm (429 in). As with the AC4 version, the maker's page states no swivel angles for the head, and the standard enclosure is a semi-enclosure.

31 / 40 kW (41.6 / 53.6 hp), with a speed range of 50~10,000 rpm. The base DMC-4000x2800x800 has 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) and a 6,000 rpm geared spindle.

They are the maker's codes for the two spindle tapers offered on this head. The table lists AC51 as No.50 and AC52 as HSK A100. The page does not explain the codes further.
03
10,900 mm (429 in) in length, 6,500 mm (256 in) in width and 6,500 mm (256 in) in height. The machine weighs 68,000 kg (149,600 lb), so the foundation and the crane both need planning.

The specification table gives 40 tools as standard and 60, 80 or 120 as options. The accessory list separately mentions a 24-tool ATC as standard and 60, 80, 100-ATC or more as options, so the standard size should be confirmed.
