Overview
The Hwacheon VT-1650 is a ram-type vertical lathe with a Ø1,650 mm (Ø64.96 in) table, Ø2,000 mm (Ø78.74 in) maximum turning diameter and 1,800 mm (70.87 in) maximum turning height. Swing is Ø2,100 mm (Ø82.68 in). Unlike the chuck-type VT models, the tool works from a ram on a cross rail: X is -450 ~ +1,360 mm (-17.72 ~ +53.54 in) horizontally on the ram, Z is 1,000 mm (39.37 in) vertically, and the cross rail itself moves 800 mm (31.50 in) on W to set the working height.
The table is driven by a 45 / 37 kW (60 / 50 HP) motor, rated for 30 minutes and continuous, and delivers up to 27,587 Nm (20,348 lb-ft) of torque with a top speed of 250 rpm. It carries 10,000 kgf (22,046 lbf). Next to the VT-1350 MC, which has a Ø1,350 mm (Ø53.15 in) table, 23,460 Nm (17,304 lb-ft) and 8,000 kgf (17,637 lbf) on the same 45 / 37 kW motor rating, the VT-1650 gives a bigger table, more torque and a higher load rating.
The VT-1650 / MC turns the machine into a turn-mill: a 26 / 22 kW (35 / 29.5 HP) milling spindle with a BT-50 taper and a C axis on the table that indexes in 0.001° steps and turns at up to 3 rpm, with 0 ~ 720 deg/min of C-axis feed. Tools are held in a 16-pocket drum magazine, 24 as an option, each count including 1 dummy cover.
