DN Solutions PUMA 3100 ULY

The DN Solutions PUMA 3100 ULY is the ultra-long-bed Y-axis variant of the 3100 turning center — the longest bed available in the 3100 class. With 2,550 mm (100 in) of Z-axis travel yielding 2,445 mm (96 in) of max turning length, it's designed for shops that need to process long shafts and cylindrical components with off-center milled features, all in a single setup.

The spindle delivers the same 26 kW (35 hp) with 1,123 Nm (828 ft-lb) of torque at 2,800 RPM through a 12-inch (305 mm) chuck. These are the same specs across every 3100 variant — the bed length changes, the spindle doesn't. Max turning diameter stays at 376 mm (15 in).

The Y-axis provides +/-52.5 mm (105 mm total, 4.1 in) of off-center travel. With 5,000 RPM live tooling on the 12-station turret and C-axis control, the ULY can mill keyways, drill cross-holes, tap off-center features, and machine flats along parts approaching 2.5 meters in length. On a shaft that long, the ability to complete both turning and milling in one clamping is not just convenient — it eliminates cumulative setup errors that degrade positional accuracy.

X-axis travel is 260 mm (10 in) with rapids at 24 m/min on X, 30 m/min on Z, and 10 m/min on Y. The machine weighs 9,500 kg (20,944 lb) — the heaviest 3100 variant, reflecting the ultra-long bed casting. Footprint stretches to approximately 5,900 mm (232 in) long by 2,394 mm (94 in) wide.

The FANUC 0i-TF Plus control handles the multi-axis coordination. The ULY is the top of the 3100 range for shops that need maximum turning length with full Y-axis capability. If your parts fit within the XLY's 1,745 mm, save the floor space. But if you're routinely turning shafts over 1.7 meters with milled features, the ULY is the only 3100 that covers the envelope.
