Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Akira Seiki SL30L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Akira Seiki SL30L is the long-bed version of the SL30. Maximum cutting length is 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and Z travel 1,010 mm (39.8 in), where the SL30 stops at a 600 mm (23.6 in) cutting length. Chuck, bore and swing are unchanged: an 8" chuck with a 10" option, a 65 mm (2.6 in) draw tube bore, and a 400 mm (15.7 in) maximum cutting diameter.
A metre between chuck and centre opens the machine to shaft work: drive shafts, rolls, spindles, hydraulic rods. The quill has 100 mm (3.9 in) of travel on an MT4 taper. Weight goes up with the bed, to 6,515 kg (14,363 lb), and the footprint lengthens to 3,330 x 1,745 mm (131.1 x 69 in).
A note on the source. On the SL30L page the maker's spindle rows are shifted by one line, so the torque figure sits under the power label and the nose under the torque label. Those two rows are left out here. The page does give the spindle motor output, 24 HP (17.9 kW) peak, and the speed, 4,500 rpm. The tailstock travel row is also omitted because its two units disagree.
The turret has 12 stations with a 0.35 s index, 25 mm (0.98 in) OD tools and 40 mm (1.57 in) boring bars. Rapid feed is 36 m/min (1,417 ipm), and the power requirement is 28 kVA.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum cutting length is 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and Z travel 1,010 mm (39.8 in). The machine measures 3,330 x 1,745 mm (131.1 x 69 in) and weighs 6,515 kg (14,363 lb).
02
Bed length. The SL30 has a 600 mm (23.6 in) cutting length and weighs 5,400 kg (11,905 lb). The SL30L has the 1,000 mm (39.4 in) cutting length and the heavier, longer bed. Chuck, bore, turret and spindle speed are the same.
03
The page lists a spindle motor output of 24 HP (17.9 kW) peak and a maximum speed of 4,500 rpm. Its torque and nose rows are printed under the wrong labels, so they are not repeated here.
04
8" as standard and 10" as an option. The draw tube bore is 65 mm (2.6 in), and the swing over the cross slide is 400 mm (15.7 in).
