Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon MEGA+140 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon MEGA+140 is the long-bed heavyweight of the MEGA+ lathes, swinging Ø1,400 mm (Ø55.12 in) over the bed and Ø1,020 mm (Ø40.16 in) over the cross slide, with a 32 in chuck. Seven centre distances are listed, from 3,000 mm (118.11 in) to 10,000 mm (393.7 in), and Z travel equals the centre distance.
The range of bed lengths is what sets it apart from the MEGA+120, which stops at 6,000 mm (236.22 in) with an 18 in chuck. On the MEGA+140 the bed grows from 5,670 to 12,670 mm (223.23 to 498.82 in) long, the machine from 6,940 to 13,940 mm (273.23 to 548.82 in), and weight from 15,500 kg (34,171 lb) on the 3000 bed to 31,850 kg (70,217 lb) on the 10000. The 10000 bed changes a few specifications: the Ø155 mm bore is not offered, and the tailstock quill grows from Ø200 mm (Ø7.87 in) to Ø250 mm (Ø9.84 in) to support the longest work. The quill has an MT No.6 taper and 260 mm (10.24 in) of travel.
X travel is 730 mm (28.74 in). Spindle bores are Ø155 mm (Ø6.1 in) at up to 750 rpm, Ø255 mm (Ø10.04 in) at 650 rpm, both on A2-15 noses, or Ø320 mm (Ø12.59 in) on an A2-20 nose at 400 rpm, through a three-step automatic gearbox. The motor is 45 / 37 kW (60.3 / 49.6 hp) with the standard FANUC 0i-TF Plus or 55.5 / 37 kW (74.4 / 49.6 hp) with the SIEMENS 828D.
Rapids are 6 m/min (236.22 ipm) on both axes up to the 5000 bed; from the 6000 bed upward Z drops to 5 m/min (196.85 ipm). Tooling is a manual 4-way square tool post for □32 mm shanks. Power demand rises with the bed: 76 kVA (TR 80) for the 3000 to 5000 beds, 84 kVA (TR 85) for the 6000 and 7000, and 90 kVA (TR 90) for the 8000 to 10000. Coolant capacity runs from 220 to 570 L (58 to 151 gal).

Only the Ø255 mm (Ø10.04 in) and Ø320 mm (Ø12.59 in) bores are offered, so the top speed is 650 rpm. The tailstock quill grows from Ø200 mm (Ø7.87 in) to Ø250 mm (Ø9.84 in). Z rapid is 5 m/min (196.85 ipm) and the supply is 90 kVA (TR 90).
03
The MEGA-R100 is the heavier machine: Ø1,600 mm (Ø63.0 in) swing, 114 / 71 kW (152.9 / 95.2 hp), a 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) workpiece rating and an electric tool post. The MEGA+140 has the 32 in chuck, more X travel at 730 mm (28.74 in) against 660 mm (26.0 in), and speeds up to 750 rpm against 500 rpm on the MEGA-R100.
04
The FANUC 0i-TF Plus is standard on 220 V, 60 Hz; the SIEMENS 828D alternative runs on 380 V, 60 Hz and raises the short-time spindle rating to 55.5 kW (74.4 hp). Capacity is 76 kVA (TR 80) on the 3000 to 5000 beds, 84 kVA (TR 85) on the 6000 and 7000, and 90 kVA (TR 90) on the 8000 and 10000.
