How much does the Hwacheon CUTEX-180 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hwacheon CUTEX-180 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hwacheon CUTEX-180 is a small turning center sold in more versions than its size suggests: base A and B models, MC with live tools, YMC with a Y axis, and SMC and YSMC with a sub-spindle, on a standard or L bed. The CUTEX-180A has a 6 in chuck and runs to 6,000 rpm; the CUTEX-180B has an 8 in chuck and runs to 4,500 rpm. Both share a 15 / 11 kW (20.1 / 14.8 hp) spindle motor.
Bar work is the main reason to choose between A and B. The A has an A2-5 nose, a Ø62 mm (Ø2.4 in) bore and Ø51 mm (Ø2.0 in) bar capacity on a Ø90 mm (Ø3.5 in) front bearing. The B moves to A2-6, a Ø76 mm (Ø3.0 in) bore, Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) bar and a Ø110 mm (Ø4.3 in) bearing. On the base versions the largest turning diameter is Ø350 mm (Ø13.8 in); the MC, YMC and SMC versions turn up to Ø300 mm (Ø11.8 in). Turning length is 252 to 328 mm (9.9 to 12.9 in) on the standard bed and 452 to 528 mm (17.8 to 20.8 in) on the L bed, depending on version.
The milling versions are where this model differs most from the CUTEX-160A. The 12-station turret indexes to 24 positions on MC, YMC and SMC machines, and the live tool drive is 5.5 / 3.7 kW (7.4 / 5.0 hp) at 5,000 rpm with Ø16 mm end mills in ER 25 collets. The YMC adds ±55 mm (±2.2 in) of Y travel at 10 m/min (394 ipm), which allows off-centre milling and drilling without a second setup. On the L-bed SMC and YSMC (CUTEX-180AL / BL), a sub-spindle with a 5 in chuck travels 590 mm (23.2 in) and rapids at 36 m/min (1,417 ipm), so both ends of a part can be finished in one cycle. Turret index time is 0.344 sec/step.
X and Z rapid at 36 m/min (1,417 ipm), with 205 mm (8.1 in) of X (220 mm (8.7 in) on YMC and (Y)SMC) and 380 mm (15.0 in) of Z, or 580 mm (22.8 in) on L versions. The base machine weighs 3,600 kg (7,937 lb) on a 2,300 x 1,650 mm (90.6 x 65.0 in) footprint; the YSMC reaches 4,700 kg (10,362 lb). Power is 30 kVA, or 35 kVA on (Y)SMC versions, and the control is a FANUC 0i-TF Plus.
