Huron SX 4 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Huron SX 4 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Huron or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Huron SX 4 is a compact column-travelling machining centre with an integral twin-pallet changer, made for short-cycle production of small parts. Travels are 400 x 300 x 300 mm (15.7 x 11.8 x 11.8 in), rapids are 50 m/min on all axes, and the 12,000 rpm spindle uses an HSK 50-A taper.

Huron's concept is a fixed base with a travelling column. Every axis movement is on the tool, and the table does not move. Two pallets of 550 x 300 mm, each rated for 125 kg (276 lb), swap between the work zone and the loading station, so the operator loads one while the other is cut.

The spindle is a liquid-chilled electrospindle rated 13.5 / 13.5 kW and 45 / 64 Nm (S1 / S6). Huron stresses how quickly it accelerates, which matters on parts where the spindle starts and stops for every tool. The magazine holds 16 tools up to 250 mm long and 3 kg.

Positioning is stated as 0.010 mm and repeatability as 0.005 mm. The spindle nose stands 150 to 450 mm from the pallet centre, and the pallet surface is 900 mm above the floor. Huron also lists a swivelling control panel, a rear chip conveyor and provision for interfacing as an in-line machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the pallet arrangement on the Huron SX 4?

The machine has 2 pallets of 550 x 300 mm (21.7 x 11.8 in), each with a maximum load of 125 kg (276 lb). Huron describes an integral automatic workpiece changer, so loading and unloading take place while the other pallet is in the cut.

02 What are the travels and rapids of the SX 4?

400 mm in X, 300 mm in Y and 300 mm in Z, with rapids of 50 m/min on each axis. The distance from spindle nose to pallet centre ranges from 150 to 450 mm.

03 What spindle does the SX 4 have?

An electrospindle with a maximum of 12,000 rpm and an HSK 50-A taper, cooled by a liquid chiller. Power is 13.5 / 13.5 kW and torque 45 / 64 Nm, given as S1 / S6 values.

04 How does the SX 4 differ from the SX 6?

The SX 6 is larger: 500 x 400 x 400 mm travels and pallets of 650 x 400 mm rated for 300 kg. Spindle, rapids and the 16-tool magazine are the same. The SX 4 carries tighter accuracy figures, 0.010 mm positioning against 0.020 mm for the SX 6.
