Overview

The Huron MTX 100 is the smallest machine in Huron's MTX multi-tasking series, a turning centre with twin spindles, a B-axis milling head and a lower live-tool turret. It swings 300 mm (11.8 in), turns up to 400 mm in length, and both spindles are rated 26.8/20.9 kW at up to 5,000 rpm.

The layout puts three working units around the part. A milling spindle on the upper carriage moves in X1, Y and Z1 and swivels ± 120° on the B axis. A 12-station driven turret below moves in X2 and Z2. The sub spindle travels on Z3 to take the part from the main spindle. Huron's aim is six-sided machining of a complex part in one machine.

Main and sub spindle are identical: A2-6 nose, 210 mm chuck, 65 mm bore and 256/200 Nm. Y travel is ± 125 mm and Z1 is 700 mm. All linear axes rapid at 40 m/min. The lower turret uses VDI 30 holders with live tools at up to 4,500 rpm, and the main magazine has 36 tools.

One gap needs filling before purchase. Huron's table leaves the milling-spindle rows for the MTX 100 blank, so taper, power and speed of the B-axis spindle must come from Huron directly. The table also lists no tailstock for this size. The machine weighs 9,000 kg (19,841 lb).
