Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 200-5B nvu that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron DX 200-5B nvu is the big-bore lathe of the nvu generation in the 200 size. Its A2-8 spindle has a 90 mm bore and takes 75 mm bar, on a machine that turns 365 mm (14.4 in) in diameter and 500 mm in length.
Compared with the DX 200-5A nvu, only the headstock differs. The speed range is 50-3,500 rpm and the Siemens motor is listed at 14.3/11 kW. That last figure is printed as 14.4/11 kW for the equivalent classic DX 200-5 B, so one of the two tables has a small inconsistency. Fanuc power is 11/9 kW.
Large bar on a short lathe means heavy chip volume from a small work zone, and this is where the nvu changes help. Chips are discharged at the rear of the machine, away from the operator and the bar feeder, and the control panel tilts through 90° so it can face the operator at the chuck or at the door.
The remaining data are family standard: 200 mm of X travel, 24 m/min rapids, an 8-station servo turret, and a tailstock with 500 kgf of thrust on an 85 mm quill. Positioning is stated as 0.007 mm and repeatability as 0.005 mm. The machine weighs 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) and measures 2,350 x 1,680 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
75 mm, through a 90 mm spindle bore on an A2-8 nose. The DX 200-5A nvu, with the A2-6 spindle, takes 52 mm bar through a 70 mm bore.
02
Huron's nvu table lists 14.3/11 kW for the Siemens motor and 11/9 kW for the Fanuc motor, with a speed range of 50-3,500 rpm.
03
Maximum turning diameter is 365 mm and maximum turning length 500 mm over a 500 mm swing. X travel is 200 mm and Z travel 500 mm, at 24 m/min.
04
Approximately 3,500 kg (7,716 lb). The machine is about 2,350 mm long, 1,680 mm wide and 1,730 mm high. Huron marks these values as approximate.
