Honor Seiki VL-125C

The Honor Seiki VL-125C is where the Heavy Duty Series changes scale. Swing and turning diameter are 1,600 mm (63.0 in), turning height is 1,200 mm (47.2 in) and the table is rated for 5,000 kg (11,023 lb). Below it, the VL-100C turns 1,200 mm (47.2 in) across but only 650 mm (25.5 in) tall, so the step to the VL-125 nearly doubles the height available.

This is a turning-only machine with 12 tool positions. Its live-spindle twin, the VL-125CM, has 16 positions and gives up a little height at 1,170 mm (46.0 in). A buyer who will never mill on the lathe gets the taller envelope and a simpler machine by staying with the C.

Loading is by crane at this size, and the standard equipment reflects it. The complete splash guard is described as top open, and the workholding is a table with a manual 4-jaw chuck. Parts in this range, such as large valve bodies, bearing housings, flanges for pressure vessels and mill rolls, are usually set true jaw by jaw. A hydraulic chuck and cylinder can be ordered instead, in a choice of sizes.

Honor Seiki describes the series as box way machines with a Meehanite cast column and bed in a box structure, intended for tough materials. The page does not publish table speed, drive power, ram travel or machine weight. Two options deal directly with part height: extended vertical travel on the Z axis and an extended higher column. Others include a lubricant chiller for the spindle bearing and gear, X/Z linear encoders, a workpiece probe and a Siemens controller.
