How much does the Honor Seiki VL-100A/AR cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Honor Seiki VL-100A/AR that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Honor Seiki VL-100A/AR tops the High Speed Series and behaves differently from the three sizes under it. Its chuck is listed at 1,000 mm (40 in), nearly double the 533 mm (21 in) of the VL-86A/AR, and the spindle range drops to 5-850 rpm. Swing is 1,320 mm (52 in), turning diameter 1,100 mm (43.3 in) and turning height 920 mm (36.2 in).
The standard workholding changes too. Every smaller model in the series ships with a hydraulic 3-jaw chuck; the VL-100 comes with a manual 4-jaw chuck, and the hydraulic chuck with rotary cylinder moves to the option list. A 4-jaw lets the operator dial in castings, fabrications and rings that are not round enough for self-centring jaws. It is slower to load, so a shop planning repeat production should cost in the hydraulic option from the start.
One figure has not grown in step with the chuck. Maximum workpiece weight is 1,000 kg (2,205 lb), only a little above the 850 kg (1,874 lb) of the VL-86A/AR. A solid steel disc that fills a 1,100 mm turning diameter reaches that limit at modest thickness, so this is a machine for large, relatively light parts: rings, thin flanges, covers, wheel-type castings. Honor Seiki's Heavy Duty Series covers the same diameters with far higher load ratings, for instance 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) on the VL-100C.
The turret has 12 tool positions with coolant through the turret as standard. The low end of 5 rpm suits large-diameter facing at controlled surface speed. Spindle power, torque, travels and the standard control are not printed on the page.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,320 mm (52 in) swing and 1,100 mm (43.3 in) turning diameter
- 1,000 mm (40 in) chuck, with a manual 4-jaw chuck as standard for irregular parts
- 920 mm (36.2 in) of turning height
- 5-850 rpm spindle range reaches low speeds for large-diameter facing
- 12 tool positions with coolant through the turret as standard
Limitations
- Workpiece weight is limited to 1,000 kg (2,205 lb), against 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) on the Heavy Duty VL-100C
- The hydraulic chuck and rotary cylinder are an option on the VL-100, not standard
- Maximum spindle speed is 850 rpm
- No spindle power, torque or axis travel figures are published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A manual 4-jaw chuck is standard on the VL-100, and the table gives a chuck diameter of 1,000 mm (40 in). A hydraulic chuck and rotary cylinder are listed as an optional accessory for the VL-100.
02
The maximum workpiece weight is 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). For heavier parts of similar diameter, Honor Seiki's Heavy Duty Series lists the VL-100C at 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) with a 1,200 mm (47.2 in) turning diameter.
03
5-850 rpm. That is a lower and narrower range than the 25-1,500 rpm of the VL-86A/AR, in keeping with the much larger chuck. A dual speed gearbox for the spindle motor and a spindle motor upgrade are optional.
04
Maximum swing is 1,320 mm (52 in), maximum turning diameter 1,100 mm (43.3 in) and maximum turning height 920 mm (36.2 in). The turret has 12 tool positions.
