Overview
The HNK HPM-20M (20x60) is a five-face double column machining center with a 2,000 x 6,000 mm (78.7 x 236.2 in) table and 6,250 mm (246.1 in) of X travel.
Long parts are where five-face capability earns its keep. A six-metre bed casting or a welded beam is awkward to turn over, and each re-clamping costs alignment. Here the top is milled with the spindle vertical, and the long sides and both ends are reached from the same set-up. The ends are the difficult part: the table has to travel far enough for a side-working tool to clear the end of the part, and X exceeds the table length only slightly.
