Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HNK HGG-2000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Doubling the gear diameter without changing the wheel: that is the HNK HGG-2000. It grinds gears up to Ø2,000 mm (78.7 in) outside diameter with exactly the wheel package of the HGG-1000, and it extends the vertical working range to 1,000 mm (39.4 in).
The unchanged wheel is informative. Modules stay at M1-M35, maximum wheel diameter at 400 mm (15.7 in), maximum thickness at 90 mm (3.5 in) and wheel speed at 4,000 rpm. So the HGG-2000 is not for coarser teeth than its smaller sibling. It is for the same teeth on a larger pitch circle and a wider face: ring gears, large bull gears for industrial reducers, and wide double-helical gears, which need the longer vertical stroke.
More teeth per gear means longer cycles and more dressing along the way. HNK's double dressing system, which the maker says minimizes dressing time, and its automatic balancing matter more as the gear grows. So does the AE sensor HNK lists, since finding the tooth flanks on a two-metre gear by hand is slow.
Grinding spindle power is 24 kW (32.2 hp), or 37 kW (49.6 hp) in braces. The helix angle range is ±45°, the minimum wheel shoulder diameter 206 mm (8.1 in), and the control Siemens 840D. Above this size, the HGG-4000 changes to a larger wheel and M1-M50.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Gears up to Ø2,000 mm (78.7 in) with a 1,000 mm (39.4 in) vertical working range
- 4,000 rpm wheel speed retained at this gear size
- Wheel and dressing package common with the HGG-1000
- ±45° helix angle range for single- and double-helical gears
Limitations
- Module range is still M1-M35; M1-M50 needs the HGG-4000
- Wheel thickness limited to 90 mm (3.5 in)
- Workpiece weight capacity is not published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It grinds gears up to Ø2,000 mm (78.7 in) instead of Ø1,000 mm (39.4 in) and has a vertical working range of 1,000 mm (39.4 in) where the HGG-1000 has 650 mm (25.6 in). Module range, wheel size, spindle power and wheel speed are identical.
02
The module of cutting is M1-M35. The two larger models, HGG-4000 and HGG-6000, are listed at M1-M50 with a wheel up to 130 mm (5.1 in) thick.
03
For the HGG series HNK names a double dressing system, a tooth-fix-program, automatic balancing, an AE sensor and tooth calibration devices. The page describes them in one paragraph and gives no further detail or option status.
04
Siemens 840D is the only control in the table for all HGG models. HNK's other series usually list a second control, so the gear grinders are an exception.
