Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HNK HGH-40 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The HNK HGH-40 hobs gears up to Ø4,000 mm (157.5 in) on a Ø2,000 mm (78.7 in) table. Its maximum gear diameter is twice the table diameter, the same ratio as on the HGH-60 and HGH-80, so the outer part of a full-size ring sits on arms or a fixture plate beyond the table edge.
This is the model where the full-size hob head appears. It takes hobs up to Ø500 mm (19.7 in) in diameter and 700 mm (27.6 in) long, against Ø320 mm (12.6 in) and 440 mm (17.3 in) on the HGH-20, and tangential travel (Y) grows to 450 mm (17.7 in). A longer hob with more shift travel lasts longer between regrinds, which counts on a ring with several hundred teeth.
Module limits step up too: 30M for gear hobbing and 40M in the form milling row. The cutter head motor stays at 52 kW (69.7 hp) and the hob speed at 250 rpm.
Table load is 30,000 kg (66,138 lb). Column travel (X) is 2,000 mm (78.7 in) and the hob head moves 1,500 mm (59.1 in) vertically. The A-axis swivels the head from -45 to +45 degrees and the C-axis table covers 0 to 360 degrees. HNK presents the series for wind-turbine yaw and pitch bearings, cut inside and outside at one set-up with alternate attachments. The control is Siemens 840D.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The HGH-40 cuts gears up to Ø4,000 mm (157.5 in) and carries 30,000 kg (66,138 lb), with a Ø500 mm (19.7 in) hob and module 30. The HGH-20 cuts up to Ø2,000 mm (78.7 in) and carries 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), with a Ø320 mm (12.6 in) hob and module 24. Motor and hob speed are the same.
02
Up to 700 mm (27.6 in), with a diameter up to Ø500 mm (19.7 in). The hob head's tangential travel of 450 mm (17.7 in) is available for hob shifting.
03
The hob head's vertical travel (Z) is 1,500 mm (59.1 in). Face width and the hob's approach and overrun must fit inside it. No separate face-width figure is published.
04
Yes. The HGG-4000 gear grinding machine takes gears up to Ø4,000 mm (157.5 in) outside diameter in modules M1-M50, which covers the HGH-40 range for gears that are hardened after cutting.
