Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HNK HGG-6000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Gears up to Ø6,000 mm (236.2 in) outside diameter can be ground on the HNK HGG-6000, the largest gear grinding machine in HNK's range. Apart from that diameter, its published specification is the same as the HGG-4000 row for row.
Both share modules M1-M50, a helix range of ±45°, a 1,500 mm (59.1 in) vertical working range, a wheel of up to 450 mm (17.7 in) diameter and 130 mm (5.1 in) thickness, and a wheel speed of up to 3,500 rpm. The grinding head is evidently common. What must differ is everything under the gear: the table, its bearing and the column's radial travel. None of that is in HNK's table, so a buyer has to request the table diameter, the load capacity and the radial stroke before judging the machine.
Six-metre gears are girth gears for rotary kilns and grinding mills, slewing rings and the largest marine and hydro-power drives. Many are made in segments. Whether segments can be ground assembled, and how the machine finds the teeth across a joint, are questions for HNK's tooth calibration devices and tooth-fix-program, both of which the maker lists without detail.
HNK's gear hobbing counterpart for this diameter is the HGH-60, which cuts gears up to Ø6,000 mm (236.2 in). The grinding spindle here is 24 kW (32.2 hp), with 37 kW (49.6 hp) in braces, and the control is Siemens 840D.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Ø6,000 mm (236.2 in) outside diameter, in modules M1-M50, with a helix angle up to ±45° and within a vertical working range of 1,500 mm (59.1 in).
02
Not in the published rows. Wheel diameter up to 450 mm (17.7 in), thickness up to 130 mm (5.1 in), 3,500 rpm, 24 kW (32.2 hp) and the 1,500 mm (59.1 in) vertical range all match the HGG-4000. Table and load data are not given for either.
03
HNK's table for the HGG series has no load row. For comparison, the HGH-60 hobbing machine for the same Ø6,000 mm (236.2 in) gear diameter lists a table load of 100,000 kg (220,459 lb). Ask HNK for the grinder's figure.
04
Siemens 840D. HNK lists a tooth-fix-program, automatic balancing, an AE sensor and a double dressing system among the machine's functions, without saying which are standard.
