Overview

The Hedelius FORTE 11-6200 offers the largest table surface of any FORTE: 6,680 x 1,100 mm, fixed, rated for 7,000 kg (15,432 lb). The travelling column of this 3-axis machining centre covers 6,200 mm (244.1 in) in X, 1,100 mm in Y and 1,005 mm in Z. Hedelius heads the page "for maximum requirements".

On a machine like this, the daily questions are about reach, not about cutting. Can the operator get to a fixture in the middle of the bed? Hedelius speaks of excellent accessibility with convenient access to the entire working range, and fits motor-activated automatic doors. Where do the chips go? Vertical slat covers form the housing and let them fall away. How long does a tool change take at the far end? The 65-position magazine travels with the column, so the answer is the same ca. 13 s chip to chip as anywhere else.

Used as two machines, the table splits into pendulum areas of 2,825 x 2,825 mm. Used as one, it takes parts over six metres long with 1,100 mm of width in a single clamping, on nine 18 mm T-slots.

The spindle is a liquid-cooled motor spindle with up to 50 kW. The data sheet lists four: 22 kW and 117 Nm or 37 kW and 185 Nm at 14,000 rpm in SK40 / BT40, and 35 kW at 18,000 rpm or 50 kW with 217 Nm at 15,000 rpm in HSK A63. Feed force is 27,000 N. Machine weight is 31,500 kg (69,444 lb), and the transport width is 4,230 / 3,940 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large is the FORTE 11-6200 work area?

Travels are 6,200 mm in X, 1,100 mm in Y and 1,005 mm in Z. The fixed table's clamping area is 6,680 x 1,100 mm with nine 18 mm T-slots at 125 mm spacing, and the table load is 7,000 kg (15,432 lb).

02 How long does a tool change take on the FORTE 11-6200?

ca. 13 s chip to chip for a pre-selected follow-on tool. Hedelius states that the travelling 65-position tool magazine keeps tool changes within a very short time even with this large travel path, since the magazine moves with the column.

03 What spindle power is available on the FORTE 11-6200?

Up to 50 kW. The data sheet lists SK40 / BT40 spindles at 14,000 rpm with 22 kW or 37 kW, and HSK A63 spindles at 18,000 rpm with 35 kW or at 15,000 rpm with 217 Nm and 50 kW. SK40 is the standard mount.

04 What has to be planned for installing a FORTE 11-6200?

A standard weight of 31,500 kg (69,444 lb), a delivery/transport height of 3,100 mm and a width of 4,230 / 3,940 mm. The chip conveyor is offered in right-hand or left-hand design, and the automatic doors need clear space along the front.
