Overview

The Hartford Aero-1041G is a ten-metre gantry type 5-faced machining center with 4,100 mm (161.4 in) of Y travel. Its table is 10,000 x 3,600 mm (393.7 x 141.7 in) and its X travel 10,000 mm (393.7 in).

What does a shop get from the standard machine, and what has to be added? The spec table answers part of that. Standard: 1,000 mm of Z travel, a #50 gear head at 6,000 rpm, BT-50 shanks, an S type magazine for 30 tools or an A type for 40. Optional: 1,200 mm of Z, an 8,000 rpm gear head, 40 tools in the S type or 60 in the A type, and CAT50, DIN69871A or BBT50 shanks. Hartford's text adds the i-Tech hybrid 10,000 rpm spindle and extra head magazines to the options.

The heads themselves are the open question. Hartford states that the machine can operate with a universal head, a 90 degree head and an extension head, but the table does not say which are included, so have that itemised.

Sizing within the series is straightforward. The Aero-1036G is the narrower ten-metre model, with 3,600 mm (141.7 in) of Y, and the Aero-841G has this cross section at 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X. The table rating is 5,000 kg/m² on all of them.
