How much does the Fryer ET-80 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer ET-80 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fryer ET-80 has the largest swing of the ET flat-bed lathes: 80 in (2,032 mm) of swing over the bed, 65 in (1,651 mm) over the cross slide and a center height of 40 in (1,016 mm). It tops the ET-XL series and starts at 30,500 lb (13,835 kg) with the standard 60 in (1,524 mm) center distance.
Work of this diameter is usually about bore as much as swing. The standard spindle has a 6.10 in (155 mm) bore on an A2-11 nose. Fryer's options sheet then steps through big bore options: a 9.05” bore at 600 RPM maximum, a 12.05” bore at 375 RPM, a 16.14” bore at 250 RPM and a 20" option at 200 RPM, the larger ones on A2-20 and A2-28 noses. Each step trades speed for the ability to pass pipe, casing or a long shaft through the headstock.
Before ordering, a buyer has three installation questions to settle. Power is 125 A at 380-500 VAC, with no lower voltage in the table. Length depends on the bed: Fryer gives 145 in (3,683 mm) of width with 60 in centers and 325 in (8,255 mm) with 240 in centers. And the weight reaches 50,800 lb (23,043 kg) with 280 in centers, which decides the foundation and the crane.
Cutting capacity is common to the series. The 50 hp (37.3 kW) peak motor and three speed autoshift headstock deliver 19,700 ft-lb (26,710 Nm) at 30 rpm, and the top range ends at 750 rpm. Parts up to 20,000 lb (9,072 kg) can be carried with steady rest and tailstock. One row deserves a question to Fryer: cross slide travel is printed as 27 in (686 mm) with 33 in and 40 in in brackets, without saying which model or option the bracketed figures belong to.
