Fermat BHMR — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Fermat BHMR that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Fermat or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Fermat BHMR combines the 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) capacity of Fermat's mid-size cylindrical grinder with an automatic B axis. The grinding headstock rotates +45° / -225° under program control and holds 3 tools.

Think of a machine-tool spindle. It has journals, a taper, shoulders and often a bore, and every one of them should run true to the others. Ground on separate machines or in separate clampings, each surface inherits the error of the last setup. With three tools on a rotating wheelhead the BHMR grinds them one after another from the same centers, which is what Fermat means by multiple tools per clamping.

The envelope is 500 mm of swing, with 600 mm in brackets, and 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 / 3,000 mm (39.4 / 59.1 / 78.7 / 118.1 in) between centers. Fermat's text mentions parts held between centers or floating in the chuck. The wheel measures Ø 500 x 80 x Ø 203 mm and is driven by 11 kW (14.8 hp) at 10-50 m/s.

Among the design elements Fermat lists are a ring motor for the B axis, Teflon guide surfaces, an in-process gauge, an axial probe and automatic steady rests. Working accuracy is given as IT 4. The control is a SINUMERIK 840D sl, SINUMERIK ONE or FANUC.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How many wheels can the BHMR carry?

The table gives a maximum number of tools of 3, and Fermat's text speaks of a grinding headstock equipped with up to three tools. The headstock rotates +45° / -225° automatically to bring each one to the workpiece.

02 What is the difference between the BHMR and the BHCR?

Size. The BHCR takes 4,000 kg workpieces, swings 630 / 850 / 1,000 / 1,200 mm and reaches 6,000 mm (236.2 in) between centers, with an 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) wheel motor. The BHMR takes 1,500 kg (3,307 lb), swings 500 mm and reaches 3,000 mm (118.1 in), with 11 kW (14.8 hp). Both have the same B-axis range and tool count.

03 What capacity does the BHMR have?

Maximum workpiece weight is 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). Swing diameter is 500 mm, with 600 mm in brackets, and distance between centers is 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 / 3,000 mm (39.4 / 59.1 / 78.7 / 118.1 in). The wheel is Ø 500 x 80 x Ø 203 mm.

04 Which controls and options does Fermat list for the BHMR?

SINUMERIK 840D sl, SINUMERIK ONE or FANUC. The machine can also be equipped with an in-process gauge, an axial probe, automatic electric steady rests, a rotary dresser, electric spindles and a ruler on the Z axis. A special version has a C axis for non-circular shapes.
