Overview
The Excetek V1060 is the entry to the maker's large-format V series wire EDMs: 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of X travel, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and a 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) workpiece limit. Excetek sells it in two column heights and prints both in the table heading, as V1060 - Z350 / Z500.
Most of the specification depends on which of the two is ordered. Z travel is 350 / 500 mm (13.8 / 19.7 in). Maximum workpiece size is 1,500 x 1,000 x 345 mm (59.1 x 39.4 x 13.6 in), with 495 mm (19.5 in) in brackets for the taller machine. Machine weight is 7,300 / 7,650 kg and water tank capacity 1,800 / 2,500 L. Floor space changes too. The Z350 measures 3,460 x 3,260 x 2,310 mm and the Z500 4,210 x 3,260 x 2,390 mm, so the taller column also needs a longer bay.
U/V travel is given as 160 x 160 mm (6.3 x 6.3 in) with 260 x 260 mm (10.2 x 10.2 in) in brackets. The taper row reads ±30° over 100 mm (3.9 in) with the wide diamond guide and nozzle. Wire is 0.2 to 0.33 mm, a heavier range than the 0.15 to 0.3 mm of the V850G Plus below it.
The page describes the motion system in some detail: widely spaced linear guide ways, cryogenically treated C1 class ball screws supported at both ends, high resolution AC servomotors, laser calibration and pitch error compensation. Where it is fitted, Excetek describes threading at the break point after annealing the wire, threading while submerged, and a water jet function that threads a thickness of 500 mm.
