How much does the Excetek V1280 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Excetek V1280 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Three versions share the V1280 name. Excetek heads the table "V1280 - Z500/Z600/Z800", and this V series wire EDM is built around a 1,200 mm (47.2 in) by 800 mm (31.5 in) table stroke with a 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) workpiece limit whichever column is chosen.
The base Z travel is 500 mm (19.7 in), with a submerged height of 500 mm (19.7 in). The option row gives 600 / 800 mm (23.6 / 31.5 in) of Z with matching submerged heights, and the workpiece row moves with it: 1,650 x 1,200 x 495 mm (65.0 x 47.2 x 19.5 in) as standard, 595/795 mm as the optional heights. Unlike several smaller Excetek machines, the water level here is stated to follow the Z stroke all the way up, so a tall part can be cut fully submerged.
Height is paid for in mass and water. Machine weight runs 10,600 / 10,850 / 11,600 kg across the three versions and tank capacity 3,000 / 3,300 / 4,000 L. Dimensions are printed for two of them only: 4,400 x 3,725 x 2,585 mm for the Z500 and 4,510 x 3,765 x 2,890 mm for the Z600. Ask for the Z800 drawing before committing roof height.
U and V travel 260 x 260 mm (10.2 x 10.2 in) as the single listed figure, which is the stroke that the V1060 shows only in brackets. Taper is ±30° over 100 mm (3.9 in) and wire runs from 0.2 to 0.33 mm. The W6 control, industrial PC, C1 class ball screws and laser calibration are common to the V series. So is the options list, which holds AWT, closed loop linear scales, a double door and the Super Finish Circuit.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Z travel of 500 mm (19.7 in) as standard, with 600 / 800 mm (23.6 / 31.5 in) as options
- Submerged height matches Z travel on every version: 500 mm standard, 600 / 800 mm optional
- 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) workpiece weight on a 1,200 x 800 mm stroke
- U/V travel of 260 x 260 mm (10.2 x 10.2 in) is the listed figure, not a bracketed alternative
- Super Finish Circuit option is described as giving less than Ra 0.2 micrometer in a single cut with 4 skims
Limitations
- Machine weight is 10,600 / 10,850 / 11,600 kg and the tank holds 3,000 / 3,300 / 4,000 L, so foundations and water treatment scale with the column
- No machine dimensions are printed for the Z800 version
- AWT is an option on a machine intended for long cuts
- Wire below 0.2 mm is not in the listed range

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The standard machine has 500 mm (19.7 in) of Z travel and a submerged height of 500 mm. Excetek lists 600 / 800 mm (23.6 / 31.5 in) as optional Z travels, each with the same submerged height as its stroke. The versions are named Z500, Z600 and Z800.
02
It depends on the column. The table gives 10,600 / 10,850 / 11,600 kg for the Z500 / Z600 / Z800 versions, and water tank capacities of 3,000 / 3,300 / 4,000 L in the same order.
03
Both have 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of X travel and 260 x 260 mm of U/V travel. The V12100 extends Y to 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and Z to 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and carries 5,500 kg (12,125 lb). The V1280 has 800 mm (31.5 in) of Y and tops out at the 800 mm optional Z.
04
Only for the Super Finish Circuit, which is an option. Excetek says its high frequency technology gives a roughness of less than Ra 0.2 micrometer, obtained in a single cut with 4 skims. No finish figure is printed for the standard generator.
