Overview
A 500 x 300 mm (19.7 x 11.8 in) table stroke, 260 mm (10.2 in) of Z and a 600 kg (1,323 lb) workpiece limit define the Excetek V500G Plus, the second size in the G Plus wire EDM series. Five axes are controlled, each by an AC servo motor.
The step up from the V400G Plus is not only in X. U/V travel rises to 120 x 120 mm (4.7 x 4.7 in), and with it the taper row moves to ±26° over 100 mm (3.9 in) with the wide diamond guide and nozzle. That still falls short of the ±30° Excetek lists for the V650G Plus, so this model sits between the two on angle as well as on size.
Part height deserves a second look. The maximum workpiece is given as 850 x 600 x 255 mm (33.5 x 23.6 x 10.0 in), yet the Z row states a submerged height of 220 mm (8.7 in). A part taller than 220 mm fits the tank but will not be fully under water at the cut, which affects flushing and thermal stability on long skim passes.
The machine weighs 3,500 kg (7,716 lb), against 2,700 kg (5,952 lb) for the V400G Plus, and stands on a 2,215 x 2,480 mm (87.2 x 97.6 in) footprint with a 750 L water tank. Excetek's feature list for the series talks about a DPM module, a discharging stabilizer, a new corner control strategy and reduced wire marks from approach cutting. G54~59 work coordinates can be used for automatic workpiece change in multi-job runs. Automatic wire threading itself is an option on the G Plus machines, as are XY linear scales, so a quotation should show both lines if unattended running is the plan.
